Exactly. :D You can't really measure it by how long you've been a member or how many videos you've made. You can have hundreds of really shitty ones, or just ONE really good one, or a mixture of good ones and bad ones.
Fixed. I accidentally hit enter >_>

What I meant to say by that comment was that (to paraphrase Bill Waterson) some people can meet their standards of quality and be out on the golf course by noon. For others it might take longer.

Its incredibly presumptuous for anyone to say 'writer's block smacks of an excuse', especially someone who's never made a video that anyone gives a shit about.

I don't know...I thought it was a thread for talking about editor's block, but a lot of threads always end up being about something else...like..............

Meh. I've been working on a video for 3 months now, getting a little creativity out of me each day, which working as an intern doesn't help (in fact, i'm about a week - 2 weeks away from publishing this very video).

Here's what I do. I listen to one segment of the music (preferablly one that I find appeasing), go through my DVD footage and find the perfect segment for it. I then take that segment and work with it, until I feel it is perfect. Then two days later, I'll throw it out, realizing it's really crap.

Overall, I think overcoming editor's block (allegedly named so) is for each his/her own.

As an author, I just start writing the next sentience, even if it is the worst sentience ever I write it. then I do the next one, and next one, till eventually ideas start to flow and you're back on the game. You then just go back and edit the crap and make it better.

So, simply put, start editing. Put clips on the time line, and keep doing it. It may suck, but eventually the real ideas come. Cut, replace, repeat until the video is done and good.

Set deadlines, especially by actively competing in contests. Knowing you've got 24 hours to have the video done and exported and shipped gets you working quickly too ^^
This is very good advice. I would be the worst procrastinator you ever heard of when I came to a bad day or writers block. But lately I just started doing this myself and it seems to be working better than I ever imagined!

I was ina fucking editor block for month. After my last serious Vid I just couldnt get back into ediitng. I wasn't even able to force myself to open Vegas. And when I forced myself because of a deadline the outcome sucked as bad as I didnt suck anymore for along time -_-' Then..suddenly..about 2 weeks ago. I just told my Girlfriend that I'll start a Video now, I didnt had any idea so I told her to chose the song. She said What Anime? I answered FF:advent children, she gave me the song, I started to edit, it wen well..and since that day I am editing again and got rid of editor block (and hope i wont get back into it soon DX)

Believe me, an editors block like that is the worst nightmare for an editor.
