ok, this topic will probably be moved to a different section since you are asking for help, but i'll just give a quick rundown which should help

here is a link to the guides on this site, they are very helpful and while the amount of information may be overwhealming that's part of amv making

now, if you want to make some simple amvs then all you really need is music files, video clips and an editing program. the music you can get off of cd's or dvd's and video clips are the same, ask around for specific programs that may help you on this, as for an editing program you will probably start with windows movie maker 2 as it comes free with windows, it's pretty self explanitory and very easy to use and can give you a feel for whether you like amv making or not, if you want to take it to the next level you can dish out some money for more powerful programs but you'll want to leave that for later
