This is like the 40th convention in your state, which makes me really, really skeptical of its ability to survive.

I mean, I wish you luck, but seriously, the Ohio fandom scene has some major issues if y'all need a new event every year.

Lol this con will survive lol. We're a bunch of con vets that is sick of seeing the same con over and over. We've already have a crap load of pre-regs. We're the con that is made after the same con is done over and over. We have so many cons cause some one doesn’t like something about a con changes one things not changing much else cause they hire almost all people from other cons. Well We're changing almost every detail of Ohio cons. We're the nerds sick of seeing all the Carbon Copy cons and we're changing things to show con goers that you don't have to goto the same con over and over only thing is different is the date and con's name.

Ohio based cons

Post by sixpod » Wed Jul 04, 2007 4:31 pm

Well I totally agree with you dokool! There are totally too many freaking cons in Ohio. The problem is what FAP said "they all are the same!" Every once in a while there's a convention that comes around that does something different, but usually they follow the same mold, same staff, etc.

I am really looking foward to A&G Ohio though. They are going to have soooo many more Crowd participated events and Original and Exclusive Events, which is always good. Not including they are trying to take every bit of con advise from fans and not from from other cons. They are technically NOT an Anime convention though. Animation & Gaming Convention. But yes there will definently be some anime influence.

Hope to join up with people there

I'm reminded of Anime <s>Banzai</s> Punch (mybad!) and from what I've heard that con has been an unmitigated disaster.

Ah well, suppose I'll hear the postmortem one way or another.

Eh AP dose well numbers wise. No we're not like AP thou! We are doing allot to avoid the messes they seem to attract. Plus they are strictly anime. We are all animation and gaming. We have countless events other cons have never had. All of our staff is full of new ideas and ways to avoid the stupid things that anger people. We're not a last minute con like con I’d rather not mention. But seriously if you ideas to better us we're all ears. We are seiriously trying to be the best around any input is fantastic!

I'm not necessarily downing you guys, just expressing my doubts. As an outsider to your scene, the sheer number of events that take place in Ohio (and their associated drama, and I have plenty of friends involved in the Ohio otaku scene so it's not like I'm totally ignorant of the situation) is troubling. 'Tis all :P

Well thats one of the reasons A&G exists to advoid the drama eveyone on the staff is good friends. I think once A&G is over it's gonna be like "Wow thats how a con should be" I've see too many cons try and miss.
