FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational (TAKII) 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ Announced!

"Ladies & gentlemen, boys & girls, children of all ages". PDNMZ CD Shoppe, along with sponsor club The Lost Otakus (TLO), is proud to announce to you the 4th season of its cult-classic Asian music/video gaming fusion festival, The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational (TAKII), appropriately subtitled "Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme"! TAKII 4 is FREE & will be taking place from The Rotunda (Philadelphia, PA) on August 5th, 2007 from 10am-10pm EST.

After the success of TAKII 3 ~Video Game Ecstacy~ (which blew expectations out of the water), TAKII coordinators wanted to see just how we could take the 4th season of TAKII further into the land of the extreme. What other better way to "break it down" than to extend operational hours (from 8hrs to 12hrs), add must-see twists to our Asian Karaoke Idol show & wide-screen projection gaming tourneys, have moving live music performances, & make it FREE to enter!? In addition to those TAKII classics, we are rolling out with even more innovative events that will bring "shock & awe" to Asian culture enthusiasts worldwide!

Your TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ experience does not stop there, as the official TAKII website has been revamped, with more ways for you to suggest new events, entertainers, become sponsors, or even become gophers or co-coordinators! Whether you want to participate in our new dancing-infused Asian Karaoke Idol show, cosplay exhibitions, or purchase table space, the "Registration" section of the website comes complete with online pre-registration at special rates that cannot be passed up.

So...."are you ready" to make your mark on the history? Can you hang with video gaming legends & Asian karaoke extremists in order to become your very own TAKII superstar? Talk it up to everyone you know! Make sure to clear space on your calendars for the main event of your summer vacation season in TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~! And if you're not down with that, then we just got 2 words for ya: BRING IT!

TAKII 4: Something Old, New, & X-Treme

Post by D-chan ^_* » Sun Mar 25, 2007 9:07 pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAKII 4 Decree: Something Old, Something New, Something X-Treme

March 25th, 2007 -- Upper Darby, PA -- PDNMZ CD Shoppe & TLO are proud to announce many additions to the line-up of entertainment for this season's TAKII fusion festival, TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~! Add that to some classic TAKII events & an "x-treme" attitude, the anticipation can only continue to grow.

As was reported late last weekend, Benjamin Oaks has agreed to perform live for TAKII 4-goers in his debut TAKII appearance! He is an accomplished urban musician, a jack of all trades, & is looking forward to giving us his stylings with a lil Asian flava & a few surprizes. D-chan & Prism are returning for what promises to be a true vocal cavalcade.

The fun does not stop there, as TAKII 4 beefs up its cosplay offerings in true royal fasion (with Cosplay Battle Royale) & upgrades its signature event, The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational Show, with a bit of dancing! Prizes will be offered to those who excel in cosplay craftsmanship, as well as supreme vocal skill & fancy footwork. If last season was an indication of how emotionally charged our competitions can get, then these will be sure not to disappoint.

With more time to shine, TAKII 4 is able to introduce to you new & innovative events to keep the otaku/Asian music communities buzzing. They include: Raffle Royale, TAKII Rhythm D-Generates (a group dance work-out), AMV Battle Royale (TAKII-style AMV contest w/a twist), TAKII 2007 Video Game Awards, & much more! As TAKII 4 ~Rhythm D-Generation X-Treme~ approaches, details for the newest events will be made public via the official TAKII website. This includes news for new TAKII merch, archive participation, event/guest applications, discount registration deadlines, & much more!

This press release would not be complete without announcing to you a true "show-stopper" for TAKII 4, "TAKII Church Of Anime". Given that this season's TAKII takes place on a Sunday, it is only fitting that we quench your thirst for spiritual nourishment with a truly soulful, comical, out-of-body experience that needs to be seen to be believed. Complete with an ordained priest, an Anime all-star praise & worship session, special parting blessing, & something special, you will leave knowing you have been touched by the Godhand (but not too hard, like in the game :-P).

The best has yet to come & we have only just begun. HUZZAH!

AMV "Battle Royale" Suggestions

Post by D-chan ^_* » Tue Apr 03, 2007 9:00 am

K-wa, minna-san!

TAKII 4 is debuting a special AMV contest, and any helpful tips/suggestions that you guys have for us to be able to implement the best AMV contest around would be greatly appreciated (^-^).

FYI: I 1st really started getting into AMVs when I went to my 1st Otakon in 2000 when I saw a SM video ("Dreams Of Red" (w/Desert Rose by STING, and Sailor Mars video clips). Ever since, I have been a fan of many AMVs :-P.

Domo!!!!

Get an established AMV-maker to run it and you'll be better off in the long run. Plenty in the greater Philadelphia area, you shouldn't have a problem finding them.

TAKII 4 Is Hardcore: 4th Season, 4 Championship Competitions

Post by D-chan ^_* » Tue May 08, 2007 3:48 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAKII 4 Is Hardcore: 4th Season, 4 Championship Competitions

May 8th, 2007 -- Upper Darby, PA -- With each season of TAKII came more ways for more people to win prizes, championships, & bragging rights. After much thought, TAKII 4's Co-Coordinators decided to broaden everyone's horizons by putting a new spin on classic TAKII contests & adding essences new to the TAKII brand (http://cd-shoppe.pdnmz.com/contests_rel ... vents.html):

PDNMZ CD Shoppe Presents: TAKII 4 Show
- A TAKII staple, this Asian Karaoke Idol show pits multitudes of people againt one another in a battle for vocal supremacy. The new twist for this season is that 1 round will be devoted to pure dance style & technique, a-la ABC's "Dancing With the Stars"! The person to find the right balance of vocality, dance ability, & courage will then be crowned the TAKII 4 Show Champion.

Video Game Tournaments
- Always a crowd-pleaser, TAKII 4's gaming tourneys bring out the good, the bad, the ugly, & the "ROFL" in everyone's video game abilities. Along with a 12ft. x 24ft. projection screen & ringside commentary akin to WWE or ECW, it will truly become a showcase of up-and-coming & well-established gaming legends. Multiple games means multiple ways to win!

Cosplay Exhibitions ~Battle Royale~
- In addition to the regular awards for best male (Emperor Award), best female (Empress Award), & best skit (Jester Award) cosplayers, we bring to you TAKII's version of Iron Cosplay! People will have a limited amount of time to make a cosplay outfit out of randomly-provided items & a specific task. The team who is left standing in the end will become our "Henshin, Make-Up" Award recipients.

AMV Battle Royale
- AMVs have turned into an artform in their own right, the result of a beautiful fusion of both music & video in an Anime/Asian context. As a new contest to the TAKII brand, entrants will get to submit their AMVs to be considered in 4 different categories (Most Extreme, Most Entertaining, Most Emotional, & Audience AMV Du Jour) for top recognition & contest swag. While only a few entires will win, all will be commended for their time & dedication to their craft.

While TAKII 4 will be all about championships for the few who earn them, it is EVERYONE who ends up being the real winner(s)! You need not compete to be able to stand counted as the most important judge in this season's fusion festival: the audience. Let the championship battles commence!

Where's the 4th set of thumbs (for the 4th award category)? LOL

Anyone's constructive input on how to create the best 1-year (season, in this case) AMV contest (given what has already been made known to the public) is greatly appreciated. No one is perfect (I am far from it when it comes to AMV stuff, hence my consulting people online and in person prior to this), but TAKII can certainly improve on its new AMV asset.

Domo arigato, minna-san!
(& BIG THANKS for putting up with my PR postings ^-^)

I already gave my advice earlier - find someone who knows what they're doing. Those categories are quite possibly the most retarded I've seen since AB's "voters choose the category" fiasco in '03-04, but at least they had the basics down. You're basically encouraging stupidity, and that's the last thing that needs to be done in a scene already diluted by so many people who have no idea what they're doing.

This... thing (I don't even know if it counts as a con given that the website looks like a MySpace page done by a 4-year-old) is a one-day event that won't get many entries to begin with, and good entries will most likely be few and far between. You are not well-known enough to get away with having a unique contest that people will take seriously. Stick with the traditional categories and a Best in Show and be done with it.

Edit: After about 5 minutes of searching I was able to find out the actual rules to the contest, and apparently you're encouraging submissions via YouTube. This proves that you are completely out of touch with the AMVing community, and that not only should you not have a contest to protect the integrity of AMV-making, but that you fail at life.

As a native Philly-area otaku I weep at the fact that half-assed efforts like this and short-selling one-dayers like ZenKaiKon are the closest we'll ever get to a 3-day convention. Absolutely pathetic.

Look, how many of the people who see this contest advertised and want to submit to it do you think will actually know enough to care about submissions from the 'Tube? You know there are plenty of AMV fans and editors who don't even know this site exists, and I'm sure that even many Org members don't realize just how bad the difference in A/V quality can be.

If the people running this actually want to deal with extracting Yuu'utsube videos and getting them to play back, and if the people submitting to the contest want to submit videos that way, then I say let them. They'll realize their error when it looks horrible on the big screen (or if they don't attend the contest, then they'll never know how it looked, which is fine too).
