AWA 2004 AMV Dinner

Post by Red Wolf » Tue Jul 13, 2004 7:18 am

Well it is time to start planning the next AWA AMV dinner. For those who don't know I host a dinner for AMV creators the Thursday night before AWA. This is a totally unofficial event, no affiliation with AWA whatsoever, but a lot of fun nonetheless. This will be the third such dinner and all AMV creators attending AWA are invited.

I've got a short list of ideas for dinner this year. They include going back to Carrabba's, going to Dave & Busters, and a big pizza party. I did check out the Chuck E. Cheese in the area as a few people requested. IMHO it is too small and too kid oriented for it to be a good place for dinner and fun for a group our size (both numbers and simple height). I'm currently inquiring about the feasibility of some of the new options and will be posting details later as I get them. What I need right now is an estimate on how many people we'll have in attendance this year. I'm not going to hold anyone to this list but if you are interested in coming to dinner please post here or email me directly at red_wolf@mac.com. Please also tell me if you will be bringing a guest and if you'll have a vehicle with you at the convention.

To attend you must be an AMV creator, AWA VAT staffer, or AWA VAT guest. You may bring a guest with you but I ask that you only bring significant others or a friend who came to the con with you and would otherwise be left alone Thursday night. I'm merely hosting the dinner, not paying for it, so you need to be able to eat out with your own funds. Please hold on to any questions you have. This dinner is in the early planning stages as AWA is still over two months away.

The three of us (Studio Gaijin) should be there. We'll be flying in from AZ, so we won't have transportation of our own.

I know you don't want questions right now, but I do have a suggestion and a request.

1. Please make sure that wherever we go (especially if we have a set menu for all of us) that we can get at least some food without meat in it since 2 of us are vegetarians, or at least make sure we know there won't be any ahead of time so we can eat somewhere else first. ;)

2. I like eating at nice places, and it's fine with me if we do, but it seems like we'd all have more opportunity to walk around and talk to different people if we weren't stuck at the same table the whole time. That would be a good point for some kind of pizza place or something like that. The last 2 AMV dinners I've gone to (at AX), I haven't really had a chance to talk to most of the people because of the distance between everyone and the fact that we couldn't all wander around freely, and I'd like to meet everyone if I can.

I hope that's not too much too soon, but I wanted to say it now while I'm here or I might forget until it's too late. Anyway, thanks for setting this up! :)

Well, I'll be there. I'll probably be flying down again, as I'm not sure yet about driving down. (driving alone from Michigan would suck.) No guests.

(you know, I should probably fix my email so I can send again... :? )

Myself and Mike "VegettoEX" LaBrie will be going to the dinner again this year. We don't really have any preferences for what you pick. 's all good. :)

I plan to be there. The flight I'm looking at should get it around 4:15 on Thursday.

I don't think the vegatarian thing will be an issue. Carrabba's is italian (just have to be picky when it comes to pasta sauce) and we'll be getting enough pizzas with a pizza party a couple of veggie lovers would be fine (if we do pizza I would take requests for pizza topping before hand). D&B should have a veggie option but I'm still waiting on getting info about their menu. I'll do what I can do accomidate your needs and in any case the menu will be available before AWA. Just don't pester me about an Akins menu

I know the wandering around or a large, round table would be best for actual socalizing. That's why the pizza party (big wandering event) and D&B (that should include a private dining room and then everyone wanders in the midway) are on the list. I just have to overcome some logistical issues (transportion, facilities, etc) with those first. Worst case we go back to Carrabba's which isn't great for socalizing but is better than nothing and then we all hang out back at the hotel.

I plan on getting in sometime on Thursday afternoon, so I will most certainly attend.

And Dave & Busters sounds like fun :) And it'll give me an excuse to play Pump It Up.

I'll be there. I'll probably be coming with Hitori, DannyWilson, and possibly anybody else who's rooming with me.

My flight comes in at 5:15pm so maybe I'll be at the AWA hotel by 6. I should be wearing a Naruto headband. 8)

I'll be there and I (again) think we should do Chuck E. Cheese. You know it'll be fun ;).

So you are *DEFINITELY* 100% going now? If so, you, me, Ashyukun and Bogosort need to get our hotel room...like NOW!
