Conventions

Post by Sango65 » Sun Apr 11, 2004 1:30 pm

What happens at anime conventions, anyway? I've never been, but i'm going with my best friend, her dad is taking us.

Don't hate on Kikyo, she adds depth and feeling to the Inuyasha series.

Well, among other things, there's The Spanking Machine™...

Eh, well it depends on the convention. My suggestion go to the webpage or whatever and check the events.

Usually some staples for conventions are:

1. People cosplay
2. You can watch new anime in a theatre type setting
3. There's a dealer's room to shop in
4. They have voice actors or guests that do autographs/interviews
5. You have a whole bunch of otaku to hang out with ^^;;

etc.

Also, you can usually attend various panels on things like voice acting, manga, AMVs, and other anime-related topics.

There may be a big room devoted to video games.

And don't forget AMV contests. :)

There's only been one anime convention that I've been to, but let me list all the things that I done on just that one day:

Played video games
Asked KiaAsamiya a question at his interview, then later got a manga signed by him
Saw the End of Evangelion movie
Saw a cosplay contest
Browsed the venders showroom (only bought a wallscroll though)

That's just about and, Oh! No AMV contests though...

It's like a mix between college frat party, Rocky Horror show, and underground rave, all with an anime theme.

Or at least those were my experiences. XD

What really goes on at those things, anyway? o_O
