They also have a bit of anime stuff, but this year more than other years, partially thanks to my efforts.
The con was crazy as usual. There was an anime panel run by myself, Brian Long (Who runs a local anime club), and some guy who was kind of a know-it-all who was shoving his philosophy about anime down other peoples' throats. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned some of the attendees off to anime. Funniest thing was.. he said that lots of Anime and Sci-Fi shows and movies share elements.. which is true.. but he compared Akira to the X Files.... that got a giggle out of me... and half the audience

The anime room was good, lots of excellent programming, only one screw-up... which was unfortunately the DDR Project 3. The screener encode was messed up (Which I'll be posting about on the mailing list in a bit). There was also DDR outside the anime room with the help of my computer, Stepmania, and a CobaltFlux hard pad. Much fun was had.
Also, according to Brian, there's a committe already put together who are organizing a new anime con int he midwest. It has no name yet, but will mnore than lickly take place in Colombia, Missouri, and will tentatively take place in the fall of 2004 or the winter/spring of 2005.
Appearently there's a website and a mailing list you can join to get more info about it.. Brian said he'd email me the info.. but I imagine he went home and went straight to bed as he had been sleep deprived... well, we all had... I'm just very resistant to it

Overall, Archon was a great success, and next year there will be even more animeprogramming, including more anime related panels, an AMV panel, and AMV contest, another anime room, and possibly a seperate anime cosplay contest that is it's own entity apart from the normal Masquerade contest they hold.
