Since when is anyone not welcome? I thought this whole meet-up thing was a gathering for a common social interest.

Jbone, honestly, if you, or anyone else for that manner has a problem with any other creators that might attend, you have an entire month to kiss and make up.

Any tension or "unwantedness" at the dinner will only be a result of a lack of doing so.

I already posted about one of the unliked editors (not "creators," editors), but it was deleted by moderators.

There are irritating individuals who are generally unliked and unwanted, but who follow along anyway and generally make fools of themselves.

Face it, not everyone has to like everyone else, and there are some people who are such annoying idiots that nobody wants them around until they mature.
"If someone feels the need to 'express' himself or herself with a huge graphical 'singature' that has nothing to do with anything, that person should reevaluate his or her reasons for needing said form of expression, possibly with the help of a licensed mental health practitioner."

I understand that not everone has to like everyone else. However, I think that maybe just a simple introduction of everyone would help everyone enjoy the gathering much more.

I went to last year's little dinner thing, though I was pretty lost, it was dark and I had to leave before we could even order the real food :x , and I didn't really get to meet anyone, I just kinda "followed along". Personally it seemed to feel a bit awkward because it looked like certain people know others and vice versa. Maybe just a short little introduction dealie could help ease any possible tension or irritation before the whole dinner deal.

I wanna go this year, but I don't want to go on the premise that its going to be on that same awkward note as before, nor do I think anyone who may be considered "irritating" would like to be left out as well. Maybe its just wishful thinking that a group of relative strangers could somehow all feel comfortable with each other because of a common interest.

Meh, only time will tell I guess.

You're missing the point. Everyone knows who certain people are, but nobody wants to associate with them.

But thats the problem, though, is that nobody wants to even try to associate with them.

It all goes back to the whole first impression. If someone makes a bad impression, they are labeled as annoying or the such and are avoided. I guess I was kinda hoping that this meeting would allow whoever to try and redeem themselve with a positive projected image.

And like I said before, I went last year, even if it was just for about an hour. I still don't really know anyone. Would be nice if I thought this year would be any different.

I dunno. Like I said before, I just really would like to go and have it be a real positive thing for all AMV editors who attend, dispite any self-projections here on the org. I'm starting to think that is becoming less and less likely though.

Completely untrue.

The people we don't want to be around are the people we find patently offensive.

If we don't know someone, we are more than willing to get to know him or her.

The thing is, though, that it's not just first impressions. The avoiders are avoiding the avoided because the avoided continually exhibit dislikeable behaviours. At least, that's what I'm seeing here.

I heard that something similar happened at AWA 10...

So much drama, can we get back on topic before this thread gets locked?

Eh, I think people would rather the offending person(s) see this thread and catch the hint rather than have actual drama in person.

Not that some people are that perceptive

Ok. Again, I completely understand that if a person is genuinely, beyond all doubt disliked, that they, under most circumstances, will be avoided. Thats life. Can't argue with that.

I'm simply saying that, IMHO, this particular situation should be a bit different and allow anyone to have a clean slate. Like I said before, just think about if you actually were that annoying person and wanted to try and change your image by attending and contributing to this meeting.

Also, though I appreciate your acknowledgement of a general willingness to get to know people who are pretty much new to those others, last year personally felt quite the opposite for me. Hence my concern this year.
