Anime in the UK

Hey guys. I've noticed a couple of anime conventions starting to pop up in the UK. Does anyone know which are any good? Also, does anyone know of any good anime scene, j-pop, cosplay kinda things going on outside of London? Preferably up north. The UK sucks for anime. 90% of this countries exposure to anime is though cartoon bloody network.
Thank god for fansubs and a-m-v.org eh!
