Creators/fans meetup at Katsucon on Thursday 2/16/06 (21+)

Post by rogueintellectproductions » Thu Dec 22, 2005 4:54 pm

Heyas. Now that Katsucon is literally right around the corner from me, I thought I'd try my hand at organizing a pre-Con AMV meetup. I happen to know the manager at a nice little bar/restaurant called Saki in Adams Morgan, less than a mile (walking distance, really) from the Omni. I've been told that, since Thursday's a slow night, we'd have the place more-or-less to ourselves. I may even try to convince the manager to show AMVs on the TV while we're there.

Saki serves sake and sushi, but they don't serve minors, hence the 21 and over stipulation. I know it makes things .... tricky, but I don't want to get the manager in trouble. Anyway, if anyone's interested, go ahead and post here, or PM me.

Well, shoot, if I can get enough people, I'm pretty sure I can convince the manager to enact Happy Hour prices - why, that should knock the rice down to $1.50, $1.75 tops! :P

No, seriously, they have half-price sushi for happy hour. That's gotta count for something...

Less tahn one week bump!

Tell ya what, way things are going, I'm all for going to an all-ages-friendly place. There is another sushi place near the hotel (actually closer), but it's a little ... how shall we say ... chi-chi (sp? pronounced "shee-shee"). In other words, pricy, upper crust-y, and since it also has "sake" in the name, it might be 21-over, too. I know a place one stop over on the Metro that's fusion, but has decent sushi.

Sorry, but with the way things are going lately, I'll have to pull out. Please, if y'all want to meet, let me recommend Tono Sushi, which is a block away from the hotel. Otherwise, I'll see you all Friday afternoon (and I hope to GOD I can get to the con in time for the AMV Contest).
