Post by angelx03 » Sun Mar 20, 2005 10:14 pm

All right, if you guys actually noticed the new link in my signiture, the RIT Anime Club is indefinetly holding its first mini-con on April 16 (yea I know, it's less than a month away). The official website with all the usual information like prices, guests, cosplay info, etc is in here:

The (rather empty) forum is in here as well. Hope some of you guys could make it.

Woot, I just got back from Tora-con! :D

I have to say that I feel about $115 poorer. I basically bought that plushie pink thing in Chobits (you know the one in the storybook), Volume 1 of Tsukihime, the complete boxset of Figure 17, and Volume 5 of Gatekeepers. But I have to say that Luke's vendor store seriously got richer especially for their first day. I wish him luck for the store that's opening this June.

Basically, I volunteered to be a "bouncer" outside the video rooms for the first 5 hours. I basically have to check the con badges of which I took a little bit too seriously. 8-)

The video rooms had some minor problems like not being able to show the necessary anime series due to not being able to obtain them. Of course I save the day when the second AMV showings was not available so I decided to play the RVG Project. Quite of bit people liked it especially the commercials.

The cosplay competition was pretty disappointing. I expected LOTS of people to dress up, but it was practically too short (it lasted about 20 min.). Not to mention the fact that some costumes sucked along with the skits (though that Will Ferral/Jeporady skit was indeed the highlight). This is the first cosplay competition of where I didn't take pictures since I'm wasn't allowed to use flash photography, and the costumes sucked.

For a first con, it was pretty enjoyable. There's lots of room for improvement like getting badges all ready as well as getting the anime series on time. Hopefully I can suggest to them to hold an AMV contest and have them premiere more AMVs but primarally multi-editor projects.
