Last Spring's ACEN AMV panel...

Post by Undo » Tue Dec 28, 2004 3:25 am

Quick introduction, if that's ok. I was a member of this site about two years ago for a short time under a different name, just posting on the boards and doing reviews for people. Wasn't making any AMVs myself, though I wanted to get into it, I was at a point where I really couldn't take up the hobby. I didn't really lose interest but I stopped posting here and pretty much gave up on the idea for a while.

Flash forward to last May: I'm at my very first ACEN, which is my very first con, as a matter of fact. I sat in on the opening day AMV panel, and later was able grab a seat for the packed screening of the first night showing of the ACEN AMV contest, which was unexpectedly cool. I mean, just sitting in a room with dozens of other people, and getting to watch some of the best AMVs I've ever seen, complete with surround sound, was really a treat. I want to say it was inspiring, though I still haven't taken the steps toward getting my act together and equipping myself with all the right tools to make my own.

If it's ok to ask, who were the people who ran that panel? They mentioned that they were regulars here (I wouldn't be suprised if they were webmasters or admins too). I just wanted to say thanks again for the good panel. Perhaps it wasn't totally packed but I still got something out of it. (Not that anyone's going to remember, but I was the guy in the red t-shirt). I guess I do have some questions for them, though I'll wait until after I check through the guides first, but I was just wondering who was there so I could know for future reference, if that's ok.

Hopefully I'll have something in the next few months to show, and who knows? Maybe I'll even be able to get something into a con. *Crosses fingers*

I was one of the panelists as were two other members (dokidoki and sailordeath). I was the one using the projector and my laptop to show basic editing and preparation. I think I was cosplaying as something too -_-;;.

Your welcome. Feel free to e-mail or private message me questions if you like.

It's a bit early, but I'm pretty sure myself and a handful of other editors will be running another similar panel and perhaps an advanced one if there is time in the schedule.

Good luck on whatever projects you have in mind and I look forward to whatever you have at ACen. I myself am about to start my video.

There was another basic Intro To AMV's panel right before DW's that I was on, along with Outlaw Productions and Sailor Death (and Quu stepped in for a while and talk). It was kind of funny since I had absolutely no idea I was going to be on it until I walked down there to actually see who was going to be on it, since I had no idea, and I ran into Quu, and he was like "Get up there and answer questions!!" :P Though the panel was fairly scarcely populated.

This was the one I attended, along with a friend I had dragged along who had no idea what was going the whole day. I can remember you saying that you didn't even know you were supposed to be there. Funny stuff.

I'd have stayed for the longer, more in-depth "how to make an AMV" panel that followed by I felt like my friend was getting bored so we went to the dealer room once the first part was over. Do wish I would have stuck around, though.
