Well, the alternates and flag corrections change the oddball notes list a bit.

The USA still has 14 head-to-head matches this round, though they're slightly different. There are also three guaranteed head-to-head matches for Round 2 (Matches 50, 54, and 62).

There are still five sole representatives in the bracket, but again slightly different: Starsy7 (Mexico), Otohiko (USSR), Shui (Switzerland), Janzki (Finland), and dokool (Japan).

Germany is down to four entrants, but still has at least one editor in each bracket, though with Cenit's loss, an all-German final can't happen. The only possible head-to-head match between Germans before the finals is Match 93 (Noss/Lapskaus).

The only nations that can still sweep all three finals spots are the USA and Canada.

Can sweep. That means fill all slots, as in have enough people that are still in the tournament at all to actually fill all 3.

Csak ez a két nemzet képviselteti magát mind 3 csoportban. A többi ország vagy 1 vagy csak 2 csoportban vesz részt, mint pl mi.

Exactly. The best any other nation can do, simply by how the brackets worked out, is taking two of the three slots.

Switzerland, Japan, Finland, USSR, Mexico, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, Netherlands, and Poland only have one or two entrants each, so it's impossible for any one of them to take all three finals slots.

Hungary has no editors in Bracket 2, Italy and France both have none in Bracket 1, and Sweden is short Bracket 3. Germany had an editor in all three brackets, but their only entrant in Bracket 1 didn't advance, so taking all three slots is now impossible.

I try not to underestimate anyone; I've seen editors of all nationalities go very deep into the previous tournaments. I just like figuring out patterns and possibilities (World Cup qualifying is one of my favorite things to follow for the same reason). I should have been clearer on my phrasing on that one, and I apologize for causing the misunderstanding. I tend to fall into using odd idioms when I talk about sports and competitions (a bad habit from hanging around with TV and radio commentators) and forget that other people might not recognize the phrases.

Well, finally got the last vote from last night's match! It was another close one.

Match 6: DaCoolGohan vs. MoonlightSoldier
DaCoolGohan's Source: Trigun 22-26
Moonlight Soldier's Source: KaleidoStar New Wings 6-10
Song: Maritime - The Window Is The Door
WINNER: DaCoolGohan

Today's matches are still being voted on, so hopefully we'll hear about those sometime tonight or early tomorrow.

As far as matches go tomorrow, there was some weird mix-ups with source selection, with people not showing up or showing up late, so right now, the only matches where both people have their sources are: TrinityDown vs. Copycat Revolver & Lapskaus vs. Unlimited Rice. So there's 3 other matches where I really don't know what's happening right now... o_o

So, a BIG REMINDER TO THOSE OF YOU WITH MATCHES THIS WEEKEND! YOU HAVE TO BE ONLINE AT SOME POINT ROUGHLY 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR MATCH. PREFERABLY BOTH YOU AND YOUR OPPONENT. THE BEST PLACE TO FIND ME IS ON IRC AT #AMV ON SYNIRC.
