Reggie just put images on a song already telling a story itself.
Not that it's not good, I know that he does of Berserk something this anime isn't but, still, other editors in the finals did create their own story. They're not helped by some lyrics, they just do their own thing and it's far more interesting.

Exactly. Video going along with audio telling a good story != a good storytelling video just like video going along with comedy audio != a good comedy video. Concept and execution are what make a video great, not their source material.

Not to say it wasn't a good video. The AMV didn't tell the story, the audio did.

I think it should have won best storytelling, but I gotta admit, you guys have a point. IIRC when the video was reviewed I said something about issues with the video matching the audio and if the song were muted you wouldn't even be able to tell there was a story going on, much less what the story was.
