Recomend me some Anime

Hey, I haven't watched any Anime recently. I'm really put off by giant robots, "fanservice" and child-like animation. Can you recomend me any anime series such as: Hellsing (+OVA), Elfen Lied (Has boobs, but not in a fanservice way.), the anime from Kill Bill Volume 1 is amazing.

Hellsing

does not compute... but if you like Hellsing you might like Trigun and Chrno (sometimes it's 'Chrono') Crusade. I figure you want something more actiony but I want to suggest Your Under Arrest, Dirty Pair, Gunsmith Cats, Birdy the Mighty, DNA2, Metropolis, Armitage, Ghost in the Shell, Animatrix, Cowboy Bebop, Patlabor, Paranoia Agent, Boogiepop Phantom, Perfect Blue, Akira, Scryed, Eureka 7, Cowboy Bebop, NATHAT, NaruTaru and a whole bunch of others... any one of these can fall under "fanservice" and child-like animation though, depending on taste.... but none could be called OVERLY fanservicey, I don't even know WHAT child-like means...

Child like is basicly Naruto, DBZ, Bleach, Azumanger Diaoh.

I mean, when you bring up Hellsing you obviously don't mean to say 'something a child likes as in pokemon' cuz a LOT of adults like pokemon (just not too the point that 10 year olds do... lol) and ALOT of children like Hellsing. I would call Hellsing Child like. Your probably relating it to the mainstream and how many of your child like friends like it right?

OK let me start over. you can't generalize in that scope because even Pokemon has a strong morale... well maybe not a strong morale, but it's a little more than 10-year old garbage. It's like the definition of the word 'fanservice'. You can't define it really. Fanservice is anything that services the fan. It could be big gazongas, lucious hips, giant robots, big explotions, gore galore, alluring music... or even nice feet! If that's your thing. If you get down to it it's impossible to define. In the same way since SOME adults may think they're mature adults, but they act like children. as long as there are oxy-morons like that you CANNOT define child-like!!

These do not relate, but there are also adults that simply enjoy these childish shows.

So basicaly I know what you mean, but it does cause confusion and it makes it VERY hard to define.

Too me, even Evangelion is 'childish' to some point. No matter how mature you think you are, your not mature until you can enjoy the immature.

but besides that rant, my suggestions there are pretty much as I understand your definition of child like xD. You'll find something you'd like in that pile of things.

A child enjoying a mature show doesn't make the show childish. Just as a mature person watching a childrens program doesn't make it a mature program. Also, pokemon has such a shit moral haha. Capture animals, cage them up in a small ball, and make them fight each other. Right haha.

But yeah Evangelion is probably the only childish, fanservice, giant robot anime that I like. The last two episodes are life changing kind of stuff.

what I mean to say is in all shows you WILL find a bit of immaturity... otherwise it would be a show about nothing, which is pretty much what Metropolis is (though it does balance a LITTLE, but it is the MOST mature with the least amount of immaturity and fanservice out of that lot).

As I said one cannot be mature without learning to enjoy (nay, tolerate) the immature. Thus the MOST mature anime WILL have immature elements. Pokemon is more than just raising animals to fight, it's also basic morales like respect and care. Like you say, a little weak, since it's so basic, so the ten year old aspect is strong. But 20 year olds that occasionally watch something 'immature' as that shouldn't be ridiculed, cuz it can be used as a reminder and some ppl just like living their passed in their free time. (edit: bad excuse as it may be... I'm tired what more can you expect! lol anyway watch an immature show- not just EPISODE, the entire show- from beggining to end and I'm sure you'll find there's more to everything than meets the eye)

Anyway what does this have to do with you? All I'm saying is you can't demand mature animes without toleration for immature. You won't find mature anime without immature overtones mixed in... rather if you did I doubt you'd like it. (ie Angel's Egg) Perfect Blue or Hellsing are probly decent examples of mature animes with very little of immature, sure BUT that is substituted with fanservicy gore and sexy . Those things are pretty damned immature (ie Celes is one giant boob as is most anime heroines lol, Alucard is the tall, dark, handsome badass stereotype as is most heros- including those in hollywood movies). Most anime is immature, that's why it's anime.

oh nevermind I'm just babbeling :/ lol mostly just because you said you can't stand immature and looking for mature, like Hellsing . Trust me I could find fault in anything :/ my bad is that you may know all this but simply don't want an immature extravaganza like Tenchi Muyo, you KNOW all this geeze!! lol whatever :/
