Post by V3n0m » Tue Jan 07, 2003 4:19 am

I recently came across a anime called Memories in a Phantom of the Opera Music Video i downloaded on winMX, i was completely astounded by the animation of that movie the scenes looked awesome and were perfect and in motion often, Well, I saw an import of Memories on some anime amazon site, for 140$, english subtitles, yipee i thought, hope its long, but it looks like a masterpeice, I was wondering if anybody has seen it or heard of it? 140$ is a lot anybody knows any other place to find it for cheaper please point me there

Thank you for your time,

Memories is a fantastic movie.

It is broken into three short films that are as unlike as possible.

MAGNETIC ROSE is the first film and that is the footage you saw in the AMV (I have that AMV as well). This is a great film with high quality animation and a very clever story... and some clever direction.

STINK BOMB is the second film and it is a comedic title. Very dark comedy.

CANNON FODDER is the last third. This one is vastly different in style and a very distopic storyline. I think some people will be jarred by the nature of this final film, but I am amazed at how this title is directed. It is a very complicated task in animation that the director has pulled off, because it's all pans and zooms with no real cuts. In film, that's easy... in animation, it is a HUGE directoral challenge.

Memories is a very good film and gorgeous to look at.

I think that sounds a bit high a price to pay...

but I don't know much about prices... and I know that this movie is not officially available in US.

Well... hope that helps.

I just bought it on ebay for $14 including postage. I live in the UK but it was coming from HK but there was someone selling it from america. Just search for 'memories anime'.

I learned of it from that AMV, it was fantastic.

used copies are usually available on the yahoo japan auctions. use a courier service like rinkya to bid for you (I got my copy for $35 before fees).

you got a crappy bootleg that's recompressed and in a blah dvd case.

I got 3 LDs plus an art gallery plus a 25 min. behind the scenes plus 2 artbooks plus the asskicking inner box with the tri-face logo plus the black felt outer box all unopened and legit for $35 + dealer fees and shipping.

And mine's got subtitles too =)
