According to the October issue of Newtype (Japan) (On sale September 10), four new Evangelion movies are in the works. The four movies will include a prequel, a mid-series movie, a sequel and a "final" movie. The prequel movie is due out early summer 2007.
While the new story will be set during the same time frame as the original TV series, Newtype states that it will be an entirely new project, not be a remake or improvement of any sort. Newtype also mentions that viewers will not need to have already seen previous Evangelion material in order to understand and enjoy the new movies.
Hideaki Anno will write the scenario for the first movie and will be the general director and manager for the entire project. Kazuya Tsurumaki will direct the movies while Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will provide character designs and Ikuto Yamashita will provide mechanical designs. Shinji Higuchi will provide storyboards for the first movie.
Khara, a new studio that shares office space with Gainax, was recently set up and is seeking production staff to work on Anno's new project.

I like the idea of adding more to the beginning of evangelion but the other movie ended the anime just fine if you ask me. They are probably going to make something for the shinji / asuka ending which bothered people alot. Didn't bother me none I'd of strangled her too, shes freaking annoying, Only I wouldn't of stoped and cried just because of her self pity response to his action.
Anyways yeah this could be interesting, It's about time they realized the eva fans weren't satisfied.

"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

the problem is that you already know how it ends, if you've watched the series.
Shinji owns the world and has Asuka for company.
It's kind of like watching a movie about the life of jesus, you have a pretty good idea where it's going to end up.
But hey.. I guess it's ok to mild the EVA teat if it still produces.

Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

<s>Spaceballs</s> Evangelion II: the Search for More Money.
I liked Eva just fine. But, you know, I want to see what other stories Anno / the writers / ANYONE can come up with. Even if they're about giant robots again, or even if they're about angst again. I mean, I know they've done other things, but instead of this.
It's more interesting to compare different works by the same creator(s) than to revisit the same world for no apparent reason. Besides, even if you love a setting and a set of characters, at least try to respect the story that was originally told. Even if it has flaws.
They might be good, who knows, but I still feel like the audience is being cheated.
Super Shanko, a holiday? Everyone here seems pretty cynical to me...
