Naruto on CTN Saturday Night

Post by VeneficusMorte » Fri Sep 09, 2005 2:38 pm

Does anyone else plan on watching Naruto Saturday night? I can't wait!!! I haven't seen ANY of the anime so far- I've just kept up with it in Shonen Jump. Also, does anyone know if there's going to be two or four episodes? I've heard two from the ads, but my TV Guide says it's on from 9:00pm to 11:00pm. Wouldn't that be great?! Only 30 hours, 23 minutes!

I think I'm going to check it out because I am somewhat curious how the dub is gonna sound. Hopefully its not rediculously butchered.

Naruto is going to premiere with 2 new episodes on 9 PM, and they're going to repeat them at 10 PM for anyone who seemed to miss them.

So technically they're only showing the first two episodes.

Anyone who want's to check out how the English dub is with ADR director Mark Handler (who directed phenomenal dubs on Cowboy Bebop and FLCL) can go here:

From a post on Dub Review:
Animaze is dubbing Naruto. Mark Handler is writing/directing. If this doesn't set off fireworks of English dub awesomeness in your head, Mark Handler/Animaze was behind the dubs of Cowboy Bebop and FLCL.

This info., along with some other juicy tidbits which I'm about to reveal, was given at the Studio Pierrot panel. Mark Handler and Stephanie Sheh were sitting in on the panel, fielding questions alongside Studio Pierrot's Japanese reps. Sheh introduced herself as the voice actor for Hinata. She talked about auditioning for the character and really getting into her role. Mark talked a lot about remaining faithful to the content of the Japanese version. He fielded a number of questions pertaining to the editing of the show. Basically, if it were up to him, everything would stay there. However, as Naruto is airing on Toonami, they absolutely have to create a TV broadcast-friendly dub. ... The Naruto fans in attendance at this panel were obviously troubled to hear this, so Handler kept reinterating that ShoPro/Viz will release two versions of the show on DVD, a TV version and an uncut one.

The Studio Pierrot/Naruto reps prefer many of the English VAs to the Japanese cast (reminds me of the You're Under Arrest dub mythos). Work on the dub just really sounds to good to be true. I was hoping Mark would reveal more VAs, so I asked him, but alas, he wasn't sure he could do this without ShoPro/Viz giving the go-ahead.

Later at the Con. (Sunday to be exact), I was at the Robotech Retrospective panel. Steve Kramer was there, and during the introductions, he told everyone he was working on Naruto right now, voicing the Hokage. No one in the audience really reacted to this, but I was pretty excited to hear it.

I read a lot of the manga...so I can't wait! *dance*
I can't download the episodes online cause of dial-up
(only 28k rather than 56k) OTHERWISE I would cause the CN version will
be cut up a fair amount. :P

That was later to be proved false. Studiopolis is the one dubbing it.

I've watched the clip (Don't give him the scroll!), and the voices are very cheesy. That being said, I'm still going to tune in Sat night...

He has a dream... of one day becoming Head Ninja!!!

I haven't seen Naruto so I don't know what it's about. I've download amvs of it so it kind of looks interesting to me. I watched that clip on the cartoon network site I think Naruto's english voice doesn't fit.

I guess I will watch it, but I wish it wasn't being showed on CN. There voices are UGH!! Mostly Sakura. I think she sounds much better in the Sub.
