Effects of anime??? [how do you feel after watching them?]

Post by The HentaiMaster » Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:41 pm

It seems wierd to put it that way does it not? As if it was something bad, but latly i have been watching an extencive amount of anime and everytime i watch one , everytime i finish one i get this uneasy feeling, as if i did not want it to end and yet happy that all those emotions ended. This sadness residing inside me after i have seen a complete series or just a movie leaves me in a state hard to describe altho i just tryed. I have spoken to my friends about it and all of them more or less get the same thing. I was wondering if i was wierd or banormal or are we all like that. I am curius to knwo how you people feel once you have seen your favorite anime end? What emotions and what thoughts are going throught you?
Suprisingly enought it's those kind of emotions that keep me watching anime and are the same ones that sometimes repell me from watching the same anime twise or any other anime for a sertain time.
So how do you feel about anime?

I agree with ya "The HentaiMaster". I feel sad after an anime I really like ends. I grow attached to the characters and it seems like they're gonna be gone forever and I feel empty and lonely inside. But if it's any consolation, it makes me feel better if the anime ends on a high or good note.

I also hope there's a sequel to the anime, or I just read some of the good fan fiction based on that anime I liked. It makes me feel a bit better at least, or I just rewatch the whole anime again.

Yeah, these emotions are also what keeps me wanting more anime of the same kind I like.

Ahhh i see that i am not alone.
Indeed same goes for me when it comes to endings, but have you noticed that most of Japanise animation does not end well at least the serius kind. The kind related to real life situations, politics and annything in general related to our world that the creator is trying to point out.
I know the feeling when you get attached to a character you like but when you him/her die in the end or you see them in pain it's almost as if you feel it with them
I would like to give you an example of what i ment by most of them end badly. Example if you have seen evangelion the series then you know that it was messed up right, but in the end it worked out well episode 26, but then they had to ruen it with that bloody movie which was in my point of view a total fiasco that left me on a such a bad not that i haven't seen the anime again for the past 4 years. Another exmple with Gankutsuo i will not go in details not to spoil anny one but you have see it to understand it. I could continue like that for very long but that is atleast the impresion i have latly with anime. Please correct me if i am worng!

I to know the feeling one gets when a series you've been watching has it's last episode.

For me if it was a really good anime i get a bit depressed and i call that state "The End of Series Blues" i feel upset that i won't see any episodes of that anime again. But after awhile i move on and say to myself there is always another great series that needs watching and if i ever want to i can watch the series again. But an important thing to do is not to lose yourself in the hope that there will be another series or a new OVA or some sort of sequel or spin off, rumors of such things are just rumors until you see proof.

So if you get 'Blues' after watching the final episode you can either try a new series or what i sometimes do read the manga version
Can't the end of the road be also thought as the beginning for the journey back.

I get what you mean, but you would be surprised at what you may notice the second or third time through.

Plus a good ending is better than a series dragging out and destroying the plot.

FLCL is only 6 episodes, but anymore would not have worked as well.

I see that you have figured out for your self but how can one anime replace another and the fact that there is no more of the same anime that ended that you will see no more of, no more stupid jokes about al being short no more of all those things you love. PLus i consider mangas being spoilers i hated reading them i rather have the motion and colors of anime.
There is some anime you just don't want to end, Naruto, you want to see him doing alot of missions having fun making jokes. Same for one piece never ending sea adventures getting better and stronger each time finding new nakama wiith which to share the dream. While others you expect it to end and you hope that te creator hase done a good job because you don't want to be dissapointed and those anime are all ways the deep ones that stun you for a while or forever.

Manga is good for a deeper or alternative look at the cast. It is nice to read after the anime.

Are you so sure that a style of joke would not eventually become old?

You can only watch a coyote get smashed by a boulder so many times.

Your right about the deep ones needed to end right and at the correct time.

Well for me most of the time I am more happy that the series has ended because I have just enjoyed the whole thing and got my moneys worth, and since I mostly buy anime I can rewatch it and get that same feeling that I had the first time. One thing I reallly like about rewatching anime is that you always find something more, so for me to rewatch a series is like watching it again for the first time, because now I am going into it with a bit more understanding and I can look at it more deeply. This is the reason I buy all my anime and rewatch a lot of my series. For examaple Neon Genesis Evangelion was a great anime series the first time I watched it, but the second time it was even better because I looked beyond all that I saw the first time I watched it. Also a lot of AMVs help point out things that I might have missed and then when I rewatch it I can find that once again. For me this is especially true for Berserk which I have seen 3 times and plan to watch it again for the fourth time. So, for an anime series to end for me only means I will get more out of it the second time I watch it. That is one of the great things about anime for me.

I will say though that I have felt some sadness to a few series where I really grew attatched to the characters one example would be Azu Manga Daioh which I just recently finished. And also there is Kenshin, one reason I grew attatched to that though is because it was so long.

Even though I am sadened by these two series for ending I do own them so I am happy at the fact I can watch them again. I have never seen a series I thought was great and then rewatched it and thought it was crap. For me anime series only get better with each time you watch them. That is truly why I love anime, and even though it was sad to see those series end they are always on my shelf for me to rewatch and enjoy again.
I SACRIFICE!
