I found this on AnimeOnDVD:

Viz Media New Title Solicitations (09:45 PM EDT): The DVD side of things for Viz Media gets a new title this fall, though frankly if it surprises anyone it shouldn't since it was talked about as far back as 2003:

# Hikaru no Go Vol. #01 - 100 minutes - $24.99 - 09/27/2005

I say it's a good indication that Viz got the license.
