For anyone who defends anime

Post by ForeverZeroo » Tue May 17, 2005 10:59 pm

I hate the fact that since anime isnt well known in the US (Well known as people think its for kids....pokemon and DBZ are the only animes....EVER)
that its just cast aside so quickly.

No matter how good the story, art, or character develupment the anime has its still labeled "bad"

If Romeo and Juilet was never made by shakespear but it was made into an anime it would be label as "passable"

this annoies me. What also annoies me is the "Its animation" statment

so? did you like the dinos in jurassic park? yeah.,..so shut up

i'm sorry for this rant but i hate the fact that now anime is popular (popular being DBZ) and now its ok to like some animes.

when back in highschool i had no friends for liking anime openly (not weirdly openly...but saying "I like anime")

and today someone who likes "anime" told me i was weird for liking steel angel kurumi trigun and cowboy bebop. He said DBZ was the only good anime.

so now i'm stuck with people around me either into ONLY DBZ cause its popular or people who hate it...

kurumi is a BEAUTIFUL anime, its cute, funny and innocent at the same time its sexual. THAT is art.

charging and punching for tons of sagas ....isnt all that deep.

ugh sorry for the rant...

Is there a point to this? You're kinda running around in circles with your statements and not really saying anything that hasn't been said 1000 times before...

I find the label anime to be too general and prone to stereotyping in the first place. So, in a sense, I would be inclined to have some reservations towards someone who blindly proclaims to like "anime" as a blanket term.
It's like making fun of someone for saying they like Japanese music, only to discover later that they meant Bathtub Shitter and not Ayumi

The alternative here, not the attractive one mind you, but the only viable way to live for me, is to either ignore or openly spit upon what people think of you and your tastes.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Your ranting is pointless. So stop your bitching and deal with it.

That's about it in a nut shell, if some moron calls you stupid names you ignore then obviously because their not intelligent to know the difference, thus; when somebody says anime is pokemon and dbz, you ignore them because their obviously not all that intelligent. We all put up with it, we all know tolerate it and eventually they will realise on their own just how much of a jackass they really are.

Videe Games are quickly moving more and more into mainstream. I miss the days where games we're played by "other people", when they were a culture, removed from society and "normal people". Get my drift?

i think (personally) its nice taht only a few people like certain types of anime-it makes it more of a cult thing, besides- not everybody likes star trek- and how many times has a start trek fan been made fun of? like everyone said deal with it- besides- i live in the UK- theres even less people who like it here...

Bah, in that case, you've never been into simulation games! If anything, those things have been increasingly moving away from the mainstream and to near extinction over the last 10 years

I would be upset if someone made a good argument against my liking anime, where my position would not be defensible and I really would look stupid and unreasonable. But I'm yet to see someone make such a case, so the joke is usually on the other party...

My ultimate defense is "Why do you care?"

But I'm with Otohiko. I haven't actually met anyone with a good reason why I shouldn't like anime. When I do though, I'll actually be able to have a decent discussion with them. I'll probably still like anime though. Right now all I get is either people who like inuyasha, but not any other anime, or people who call anime Pokemon, DBZ, Digimon, or YuGiOh. The former know that anime can be good, but only like the few one or two mainstream that they watch, and don't watch anything else, while the latter either have six-year-old children who watch WB alll the time, or peolpe who don't have any basis for discussion on the subject, yet seem to be the only ones who have a problem with anyone older than eight watching anime.
