Dubs that kicked!

Post by Tainted_Eden » Sat Apr 16, 2005 9:40 pm

Hallo! This isn't a war cry to the other thread, 'cause bad dubs are as easily talkable as good dubs. So! Any dub that you thought they did a decient job on? From accurate translations (though the voices sucked) to great voices (though the translation was a bit off).

For me, I think the following did an EXCELLENT job:

Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Princess Tutu
Full Metal Alchemist
Ronin Warriors (the dub actually turned Yorodan Samurai Trooper into a completely different show- I love it!)

Personally, I thought the Azumanga Daioh dub was well done. Even if several of my friends think otherwise... but then I have weird opinions anyway.

The R.O.D. TV dub is very good. I really liked Nenene's VA.

I thought Princess Mononoke was done fairly well.

Dead Leaves.

One of the best dubs to come out in a while.

YES. FLCL was wonderfully done, Haruko's voice just rocked!

FMA was ok but I thought Al's voice sounded a little too young considering he's only one year younger than Edward. I liked the dub of Please Teacher especially Ms Kazami's voice.

FMA

I thought some of the voice overs for America sucked like Roy Mustang, Winry voice is way to old, the kiser or guy with patch on his eye...I tell you was dead on was Al and Armstrong. Ed was just slightly off but not enough for me to care after a couple of episodes. Hughes was a little low key as well.

There's a good reason Al sounds so much younger, he was 9 I believe when his soul was bound to the armor. He hasn't aged a day except mentally from when he was 9, therefore his voice couldn't have changed either
I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death
Nor known to Life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, unlimited blade works.

I still think MXC is the best dub going, but as far as anime goes...almost anything from the now defunct Coastal Carolina group:

You're Under Arrest OVA
Oh My Goddess OVA
Elf Princess Rane
Shinesman
