Last Exile: final thoughts
I just picked up the final disk of Last Exile...two words: Absolutely...Beautiful...
I cannot describe the full greatness of this series in mere words. Everything in Last Exile is absolutely beautiful. The characters, the story, the animation/CG, the music/sound...everything is just...perfect. Here's what I think of the things I listed:
==============================
Characters -
I have never been so involved in the characters like this for a long time. They have engaging stories of their history, making each characters' personality that much more believable and understandable. You feel the same pain, sadness, confusion, and joy that the characters do.
Story -
The story is wonderful. It has the drama, action, humor, suspense, and mystery that makes you keep watching. It unfolds in a great setting, which makes everything able to mesh together fittingly and makes nothing seem out of place.
Animation/CG -
Last Exile is one of the best looking anime titles that I've ever seen. The colors and the lighting are just gorgeous, matching the scenery just right whether the scene is an open field with mountains on the horizon or inside a ship among pipes, gears, and grease. The motions of the characters and mechanical objects are fluid, not choppy like a lot of other anime titles. The CG is, at the very least, magnificent. It is very realistic and EXTREMELY detailed. Again, unlike some other anime titles, the switching between drawn and CG scenes blends seemlessly, making the scenes flow fluidly.
Music/Sound -
The music and sounds are superb. The songs fit very well with what's going on in the scene, adding to the overall effect. There's a great variety of styles, too. The sounds are simply amazing. The booming of cannons, the hiss of hyrdolics, the zooming of air ships going by...Dolby Digital sure doesn't hurt it any.
==============================
*STAMP*
Last Exile definitely get the "Lone Wolf Seal of Approval". Overall, it is an incredible series which eveyone should see.
Also, I recommend that you see these great AMVs using Last Exile:
"The Last Transmission" by Corran
"Images" by Fluxmeister

I can't wait to finish the series especially in Christmas on TechTV's Anime Unleashed, they're going to marathon all 26 episodes.

At what time does the marathon start? I've only seen about 5 episodes or so, but I really like it...it was on my Christmas wish list! ::crosses fingers hopefully:: In any case, I've gotten good reviews on the ending, though I know there's the death of at least one character I was fond of...but I won't spoil it for anyone.
In a mad world, only the mad are sane.
