Anime isn't a gender
I like anime becasue it has cool action, great stories, its fun to watch and is more sofisticated than american cartoons.
Did anyone notice something wrong that that sentence ? I just described anime as a gender. And it makes as much sence as saying "I like music" becaause its good to dance to, has meaning and sounds cool. People dont like music, they like certian genders of music. And all Too many times ive heard people say the same stupid thing with anime. Anime isnt a gender and I dont like anime. I like certian genders of literature in the form of anime. I like romance drama's, whether they're in the form of anime or not. I like good action movies that dont bother trying to have a story. I enjoy comedies, but i prefer western comedy over japanese comedy. I like it when people think about and actualy know what they're saying. It shows inteligence.

Bum, Do you mean to say "Genre" (action, drama) (rap, techno, rock) instead of "Gender" (male, female) ?
If so, then I suggest that you note it down like this
given the various houses inside techno(or electronica for those who are nitpickier than I am) you'll have the sub-genres of drum and bass, jungle, trance, and in trance you have even smaller break downs like Club trance, vocal trance, proggressive trance,
so Drama is Drama, wether Its TV Drama, Movie Drama, Disney Drama, or Anime Drama, or written drama, or audio book drama for the incredibly lazy. or the blind (not implying that blind people fall under the incredibly lazy column.)
see?

Well, gender can actualy mean "One catagory of such a set". So both words are valid.DrngdKreationz wrote:Bum, Do you mean to say "Genre" (action, drama) (rap, techno, rock) instead of "Gender" (male, female) ?
Their is a limit to how much sub-genders you can squeez something down to, and with electronica people have seriosly gone overboard (theirs over 25 types of the damn thing). For me, if its slow its trance, if its faster paced then its trechno. Anything els is just electronica.DrngdKreationz wrote:If so, then I suggest that you note it down like this given the various houses inside techno(or electronica for those who are nitpickier than I am) you'll have the sub-genres of drum and bass, jungle, trance, and in trance you have even smaller break downs like Club trance, vocal trance, proggressive trance,

I didn't know that Gender carried that definition too. Thanks, bumbum wrote:Well, gender can actualy mean "One catagory of such a set". So both words are valid.DrngdKreationz wrote:Bum, Do you mean to say "Genre" (action, drama) (rap, techno, rock) instead of "Gender" (male, female) ?

Gender is an odd term to use here; that definition of 'gender' is way outdated by now.
As far as genre though, you're entirely right. I've said something like this in a few posts before.
I'd describe anime as an artistic medium with a cultural/geographical origin restriction. Whether it is or not... But in any case, that's about the least confusing definition I can come up with that distinguishes it from a genre.
There's as many genres within anime as there are of live action movies, really, so trying to look at the whole thing as a genre is absurd.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
