Sorry, but if you feel the need to blow $10 on a magazine you have somethin wrong wit you.

I'm with Moonlight Soldier.
Animerica will never be as good as Newtype USA in my opinion.
Though NTUSA costs a lot more it's worth it so I got a subscription.

Ya, it comes with a promo dvd each issue, a centrefold, postcards etc. A nifty way to preview new releases ^^angelx03 wrote:But don't they include free DVDs of the first episodes?TommyRude wrote:Newtype = Lame ass fanboys who invest far too much into the size of their Geek Dick

And actually, for me, the magazine costs 12.50...which is why I don't buy it too often

I've really only enjoyed Newtype for the pictures and pinups, I never get around to watching the DVDs. I'm glad I work somewhere that carries Newtype so I can just open it up and look through it and see if it's worth it. This month's issue isn't worth it at all, Gundam Seed all over the place plus no DVD. I could never get into their articles, they're just so dry and don't catch my attention.
I really enjoy Animerica and Anime Insider. Both magazines are easier to get into and pretty much have the exact same information, just they have more character to them. I enjoy AI the most because it's the most fun to read. While they have their share of really stupid stuff, their writing isn't so monotonous, they pretty much cover everything all the other magazines cover but I don't fall asleep reading it. Animerica generally covers the exact stuff AI has plus there's the nostalgia factor, they're not as light hearted as AI but they're not as boring as Newtype.
Newtype has bland writing, I mean it's rare I actually read the articles, it's all eye candy. If they can get some decent writers I wouldn't mind putting down $10 for it. Plus they need to learn something about design. Most the pages have like a huge 2 page image and they stick white text on everything! I just get offended when I look at the magazine because I'm an art student and I had to take Typography and they rammed it down my throat that you have to be able to read the text no matter how cool it looks. I mean geez, it's not that hard to put a dark-mid tone shadow under the text. Plus the font is thin and white 90% of the time, these people need to go back to design school, it's just so hard not to scream everytime there's tiny blurry white text all over the place. At least make the font bold or something

The anime has to start somewhere.
NTUSA is good to some people and waste to others.
I believe if you have the money to buy it then why the heck not?
It's all about the extras... 8)
That's not true...nothing THAT big may happen in the first episode but just one can hook you to an anime. It did it for me. Look at Excel Saga, the main character "dies" in the first five minutes.Nothing good ever happens in the first episode. Call me when there's a magazine that has DVD's with the fifth episode. Something good always happens in the fifth episode.
