I need your consent [opinions on some anime]

Post by DarkMassacre » Wed Jul 28, 2004 8:35 pm

I am planning on buying Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Twilight of the Dark Master off of amazon. How many of you think these are good shows? I haven't seen them yet but I hear they're good. I should hopefully like them since I like demons, futuristic shit and robots. Wait, wouldn't robots be considered fuuristic shit? Well anyways I need any comments on these shows. Also, is their alot of nudity in GITS?

On GITS: Yes, I thought it was quite a good movie. No, there's not TOO much nudity, and no sexual nudity, HOWEVER - there's still enough nudity, to, say, offend parents. Granted, the violence is more of a concern there if you ask me.

Unless it is like Twilight of the Dark Master they shouldn't mind the violence. About the nudity, I can always watch it in my room. I would rather them see GITS's nudity rather than TOTDM's.

Well, a lot of the violence is cyborgs rather than people, also, if that makes it any better. Admittably, there are some interesting scenes of androids getting torn to shreds

akira is full of violence but i was like 9 when i saw it  if violence isnt an issue then get it;; its a great movie

GITS okay some graphically violent scenes and quite a bit of nudity but like Otohiko said none of the nudity is sexual so if u have no problem with it or parents;; then get it;; i recommend akira and GITS

ive never watched twilight tho so i have no preference on it

GITS is excellent and TOTDM looks interesting, but I'm not sure Akira's a good buy. Akira's more of a rent than buy for me. You might like Hellsing better and I found it to be much more reviewable than Akira. You also might enjoy Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040.

I've 'seen all of these three titles and IMO i'd rank them as following:
1. Akira (a classic. something like indiana jones or the magnificent seven for movie industry, one of the best anime movies i've ever seen)
2. Ghost in a Shell (excellent graphics and a good sf story)
3. TOTDM (it's only 45-50 min. long, i personally didn't like it very much, you can't get involved too much in the story for it being this short, the characters didn't appeal to me, they were kinda shallow)
Hope that helps you.

Because it's the special edition.
It's just nicer to have extra stuff (interviews with the director and creators, etc.) along with the movie.
