I've only made two banners:

*holds up "JOKE" sign, <i>a la</i> John Cleese, just so nobody thinks he actually thinks this way*

I remember visiting another forum that had no restrictions on banner size and thinking "WOW...those are pretty cool...."

How DO you make nice, regulation-sized banners?

Well, take good pics and crop them out nicely... add some text... and voila.

Believe it or not, I made a few good banners in MSPaint even.

Granted, if you want something fancy, Photoshop (or Paint Shop, or Gimp or whatever - just a more detailed editor) would do you good.

Your banners have to be under 20kb, 468 x 60 and have the org logo in them, all the rules and info can be found http://www.animemusicvideos.org/banners there.
