Bebop Titles
just in case anyone didn't notice, all of CB's episode titles are music related (cowboy funk, jupiter jazz). most of them have to do with a music style like funk or jazz, but some are named after songs...like sympathy for the devil, which was a rolling stones song. i get some...but what did they mean by-
brain scratch
peirot le fou (i know thats wrong)
my funny valentine
speak like a child
basically im asking if these are songs and if they are who did them?
i think wild horses was a patti smith song and hard luck woman im pretty sure is probably a blues standard type thing...bohemian rhapsody was queen, symapthy/honky tonk women were the stones, i think thats it.

My Funny Valentine is a song (it even says in the episode that she was named after the song.)
By Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart
My funny valentine;
Sweet, comic valentine;
You make me smile with my heart.
Your looks are laughable;
Unphotographable;
Yet, you're my favorite work of art.
Is your figure - less than Greek?
Is your mouth - a little weak?
When you open it to speak, are you smart?
Don't change a hair for me;
Not if you care for me;
Stay, little valentine, stay!
Each day is valentine's day.
Speak Like a Child... is an album by herbie hancock
Pierrot le Fou... is a movie by Jean-Luc Godart
Pierrot/Ferdinand: "We have come to the Age of Double Men. We don't need mirrors anymore to talk to ourselves... we are made of dream and dreams are made of us."
As for Brain Scratch - I've no idea.

I found a website about the influences in bebop. I haven't had time to explore it completely, so I don't know how accurate it is, but here is the link....

****POSSIBLE BEBOP SPOILER WARNING*****
Speaking of songs in cowboy bebop, "Youre gonna carry that weight" at the end of The Real Folk Blues is a reference to a Beetles song on Abbey Road, i think.
At one of the panel's at AXNY, the Bebop people said that used that line because the Beetles fans took it as a sign that the band knew that they were going to break up and the fans would be left to carry the weight of what once was the Beetles. Well, if you've seen the series, you know how it applies to Bebop

Did anyone see that Bruce Lee Special on AMC
He was talking about Jeet Kun Do, how it is "fluid in motion" in one of his interviews, "Water can crash, and water can flow. Be like water, my friend", I though of episode 8, and when they showed excepts of Bruce fighting one of his students, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Stry Dog Strut came to mind, anybody else just hought of that from watching some old Bruce Lee movies and other "70's flicks?
