Pink Floyd's The Wall > NGE?
Indeed it does.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Seriously, They're the exact same thing. Take the absurd Giant Robot's and religious alegory and whiny shinji out of NGE and you've got, The Wall.
The Wall also had better animation quality.

I can tell you this. NGE looses points in the originality department. I'm also fairly certain that while alot of people are DUMBSTRUCK by the awsome theme NGE has, none of them will know what The Wall even IS.Otohiko wrote:you > me

That's probably true...CaTaClYsM wrote:I can tell you this. NGE looses points in the originality department. I'm also fairly certain that while alot of people are DUMBSTRUCK by the awsome theme NGE has, none of them will know what The Wall even IS.Otohiko wrote:you > me

Sounds reasonably similar, but frankly - to me this just like Rahxephon vs. Eva.The story of The Wall is told simply with the music of Pink Floyd, images and natural effects. There is no conventional dialog to progress the narrative. Our story is about Pink, a Rock and Roll performer, who sits locked in a hotel room, somewhere in L.A.. Too many shows, too much dope, too much applause: a burned out case. On the TV, an all too familiar war film flickers on the screen. We shuffle time and place, reality and nightmare as we venture into Pink's painful memories, each one a brick in the wall he has gradually built around his feelings. Slowly he withdraws from the real world and slips further into his nightmare as he imagines himself as an unfeeling demagog, for whom all that is left is the demonstration of power over his unthinking audience, the culmination of the odious excess of his own world and the world around him. His internal self trial follows, as the witnesses of his past life, the very people who have contributed to the building of the wall, come forward and testify against him.
Similarities, intentional or accidental, don't detract from my enjoying any show in particular.
Besides, I consider the following two maxims my own guide to observing art:
Expectations are a prison.
Comparison to others is the mark of a fool.
Really - I'd rather give everything a chance in its' own context, as its' own work, and then draw conclusions.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Rah Xephon and NGE is different. Those are two shows about giant robots, but distinctly different themes, and ending. Stylistically, The wall, is a lot like the last two eps of eva. Secondly, the themes and message.
The wall and NGE are both about destroying the barriers that seperate humankind. Now lets go even further and compare Pink and Shinji. Both had STRONG issues with women, rooted in their relationship with their mother, which effect the way they relate to people later in life. Thematicaly they are almost IDENTICAL.
