Like a Fine Wine
Hmmm... Maybe I'm using the wrong saying, but close enough I suppose.
Is there any anime series (movie) you feel just keeps getting better everytime you watch it?
And what about the opposite? I don't necessarily mean something where you hated it the first time, but something you enjoyed, but it lost it's charm after one or two more views.
For an anime that keeps getting better, I would have to say Evangelion. First time I saw it (like everyone else), I didn't have a clue what was going on. But everytime I watched it, it made a bit more sense. And since I wasn't as confused anymore, I was free to enjoy the series. Especially EoE, because after watching such a variety of anime, I really appreciated the awesome animation style.
For an anime that got wose, I would have to say the Digimon Movie (US Dub). Ok, I have to admit, the first time I watched it I loved it. I laughed so much I couldn't stop. But like many comedies, the jokes grew tiresome. Now if I ever watch it, even the narration is boring. I started coming to the realization that the Dub (wasn't sure about the Original version) tried to cram in too many jokes. In the English language they don't seem to understand that silence can be much more effective than a whole monologue.

Even though I agree with you there (Eva does get better with each viewing) I'd have to say that I enjoyed it most the first time I watched it because it kept me on the edge of my seat-everyone remembers the first time you watch Shinji wank off to Asuka or when he falls on Rei.Anime Jedi wrote:For an anime that keeps getting better, I would have to say Evangelion. Good stuff.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

There are many solutions to your problem...
Heeheeh. I agree that the search for a anime movie that only gets better as you watch it is a worthwhile quest, and I have found many.
For one movie, being a BIT off topic, you tend to understand a bit more each time you watch it, but The Utena Movie: The Adolescance of Utena is indeed a wonderful movie. A bit on the weird side, it makes a great deal more sense if you have seen the series, but if not, dont be scared. Its a great movie, with a little bit of conservitave nudity and yuri, but it is a wonderful movie to watch over and over again. The first time I saw it, my mouth was hanging open by the time the credits rolled. Its worth seeing!
Another movie that is made to watched more than once, is Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke is an AWESOME movie that almost had me crying by the end of it. To tell the truth, all of Miyazaki's works are wonderful to rewatch, and only get better each time. Some examples are Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Spirited Away.
But that, I'm afraid is the extent of my anime movie knowladge. Keep an eye out for more, cuz you know its out there!
