Who's the greatest anime character?

Post by Cloud Clone » Tue Feb 10, 2004 6:13 pm

Um, ok, this is my first topic, so let's see how this turns out. Remember this is OPINION based, so you can't get mad if someone dissagrees with you on something(I've seen it happen before  ) so here are the categories:

1: Best based on strength

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

3:Based on charisma

4:Based on voice (dubbed, preferably)

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

Alright, let's have fun! :)
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

1: Best based on strength

Mr. Fujisawa (Original El Hazard OAV)

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

I have to explaion my answer here.
Keno is a character from the Hakkenden and when he is introduced, his whole story is about wisdom... Keno represents the trait of wisdom in the series. However, his story is one of wisdom learned to late and it is a very touching story at that. So... I have to put Keno down as my answer.

3:Based on charisma

I'm assuming you mean this by its actual definition. If you do, then I think I might have to go with Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

4:Based on voice (dubbed, preferably)

I only listen to two dubs... so... if I have to go with dubs, my favorites are probably the Kunos... Tatewaki Kuno and Kodachi Kuno (from Ranma 1/2 of course)

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

I think I'll go with Touga from Revolutionary Girl Utena, though there are so many characters I could go with on this one...

1: Based on Strength

Inu-Yasha. I mean, c'mon...he gets a hole through his stomach and he STILL keeps fighting.

2: Based on Intelligence/Wisdom

The Greatest Genuis in the Universe, Little Washuuuuu! :D

3: Based on Charisma

Yup. Spike from Cowboy Bebop.

4: Based on Voice (Dubbed)

Hmm...This is a hard one. I do like Kirby Morrow as Miroku.

5: Based on Overall Coolness and Appeal

Spike again! C'mon...no one's cooler than Spike!

1: Best based on strength

Alucard from Hellsing. The guy is practically invincible, it doesn't matter what happens to him, he regenerates.

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

Intelligence and wisdom are two different things. For intelligence, I don't really know, I'll say Shikamaru from Naruto, he's kinda smart when it comes to strategy and such. For wisdom, I'll say Vash from Trigun, he understands the values of peace and cooperation more than any other character I can think of off the top of my head.

3:Based on charisma

Hrm... Kei Kusanagi from Onegai Teacher. Everyone who meets him ends up liking him even if they don't at first.

4:Based on voice (dubbed, preferably)

I'm ignoring the dubbed part of this since I don't watch dubbed anime. My favorite voice actresses are Shintani Mayumi (Haruko in FLCL), because her voice is so unique and interesting, and Mitsuishi Kotono (Excel in Excel Saga, Kagura in Fruits Basket, Urumi in Great Teacher Onizuka, Henrietta in Gunslinger Girl) for the simple reason that she has done the voices of a hell of a lot of awesome characters and she always does them exceedingly well.

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

Favorite male character of all time is Alucard from Hellsing, hence my handle. Desptie the series overall being fairly mediocre, Alucard alone made it watchable for me with his overall badassness. Favorite female character is harder, because I usually like female characters more, so I have more to choose from. Some of the top contenders include Mizuho from Onegai Teacher, Arcueid from Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Raquelle from Scrapped Princess, and Haruko from FLCL.

1: Best based on strength

- Guts, Berserk. Of course Son Goku is stronger for sure, but if you factor in background I might give the prize to Guts. He was a master swordsman, and with such a huge sword too!

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

- This is too tough. I'd have to pick Tylor from Irresponsible Captain Tylor.

3:Based on charisma

- Hmm... Excel?

4:Based on voice (dubbed, preferably)

Ayanami Rei (Megumi Hayashibara)

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

Ayanami Rei would be my pick. Other than that, Griffith has an awful lot of grandeur.

1. Based on Strength

Kenshiro, from Fist of the North Star. He can make people explode, disintigrate, kill themselves, all by touching "hidden" nerves. Plus, he has a technique for every situation, and he's near invincible. Almost nothin' harms this guy.

1. Based on Intelligence/Wisdom

I'm going to have to say Dr. Ido from Battle Angel. This dude is a genious.

3. Based on Charisma

This is easy. Onizuka, from Great Teacher Onizuka. This guy has to be the most charismatic anime character that I've ever seen.

4. Based on voice

Hmmm . . . I think I'm going to skip this one

5. Based on Overall Coolness and Appeal

Bolt-Crank from Eat-man. This guy is just a total Bad-Ass. He just radiates coolness.

[quote="Tsunami Jones"]1. Based on Strength

Hmm, probably go with Alucard.

1. Based on Intelligence/Wisdom

Tough one, for wisdom I'd say Onizuka, but intelligence would go to Washu.

3. Based on Charisma

Hmm, Onizuka or Tylor.

4. Based on voice
Fujisawa from El Hazard in the dub. Really fleshes out such a strange character.

5. Based on Overall Coolness and Appeal

Hmm, definitely a tough one. I'd lean towards Kenshin. I like how he can be both an intense fighter and still a pretty normal guy.

1: Best based on strength

I'd have to agree with Milo and say Mr. Fujisawa (well, except when he drinks anyway).

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

Hrm, guess I would say...Ruri from Martian Successor Nadesico

3:Based on charisma

May from Hand Maid May

4:Based on voice (dubbed, preferably)

Nene from BBC: 2040, her dubbed voice sounds super cute (which matches her character).

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

I'd have to go with everybodies favorite thief Lupin the 3rd for this one.

1: Best based on strength

Dark Schneider from Bastard!

2:Based on intelligence/wisdom

Xelloss from Slayers

5:Based on overall coolness and appeal.

I'd say Piccolo if he didn't get crapped on once Perfect Cell shows up so instead I'll have to say... Ashram from Record of Lodoss War

I skipped 3 and 4 cause I'm not feeling that creative at thinking right now.
