RahXephon
did anybosy else feel cheap and used after finishing RahXephon? I mean, I felt like, wow, I think I already saw this, only instead of Ayato being a womanizer, he was just a total puss. I Mean, seriously, the ending, "This is another way it could happen" Does that sound familiar to anybody? As if that wasn't enough, remember at the begining, when he grabs asahina, and BLOOD is on his palm? Yeah, this series pisses me off, because I think the characters are cooler, but the ending just kinda pissed me off. I swear to god, if the rahxephon movie is called "the end of rahxephon" or involves any sort of mind fuckery involving giant naked...oops to late, um, mindfuckery involving...hmm, the tree of life and the rebirth of the world I guess, I don't know, I quit! Can anybody tell me? Is "Gainax" Suing "Bones" for intelectual property rights?

if you payed more attention you'd realize there is a difference between instrumentality and the harmonizing of the world or wtf ever they call it in Rah. Also the movie is NOT titled as such --; I dont know what "this is another way it could have happened" ending your talking about...there is only ONE ending.....now unless you got the message of the last episode wrong or something then yeah there is one ending and its pretty clear o.O whatever though dude --; But yeah, 1.its not a copyrighted idea so gainax CANT sue. 2. If you dont REALLY watch Rah then yeah, it seems just like Eva, but whatever --;

You should be able to go back and see GAINAX's name in the credits for ep 26. Whether they took it on as a normal subcontract job, or whether it was a bone (haha dumb-ass pun) thrown them by the original studio for borrowing their concept, they own at least a couple of the cuts used in said episode. They've got a stake, and have presumably okayed everything.
The movie's just a cash-in retelling of the TV series in two hours, with maybe a couple new cuts of animation (hasn't seen it, saw quite enough RX watching the TV on the first pass). This happens with a lot of TV anime; it's actually more unusual to find one with an original story.
There ARE huge congruences between Eva and RX, more than have been mentioned. I'm surprised that it took you until the end of the series to figure it out. Of course, since they're two different works, there are a lot of differences as well.
It's always funny to watch RX fans jump all over people whenever they bring up the similarities to Eva. "Sure, it seems just like Eva, but that's because you weren't paying attention! If you were truly FERIOR you'd notice the differences!" Like mentioning furry leggings and porno mustaches around a Manowar fan. Somebody's insecure......
Take a breath....it's a mystical giant robot show....they tend to look a lot alike. Just look at Argent Soma, which seems to be a lot closer to RX than Eva is.
There's no such thing as an original idea. Which implementation/instantiation is better or worse is pretty subjective, and best left to the individual viewer. I found RaXephon kind of silly. I really dug Argent Soma. Eva didn't make much of an impression. Mileage WILL vary.

I liked both RahXephon, and Eva, and yes i can see lots of similarities between the two series, as well as the differences. Your mind set when your watching things will determine what your going to pick up. If your bent on the idea taht it's an eva rip no one will beable to change your perspective and you'll robalby be stuck with the idea that RX is jsut an eva rip.
But really, i think you missed the whole idea ... i'm sure i didn't catch all of it either ... but i sure as hell didn't misinterpret it like you did. And what's wrong with the blood on Ayato's hand in the beggining of the series?

and no the neding is not a "what if" the way i understand it is ...Rah spoiler wrote:it pretty much jsut shows that every one in Tokoyo-Jupiter was already Mulian wether their blood was red of not while Ayato was there.
you don't like it ... fine. you don't have to like everything you watch, but don't thrash what you don't understand, that's a pathetic, insecure and immature way of dealing with things. And mind you, like i said i'm pretyt sure i didn't understand a lot of Rah, so my interpretation of the two spoilers is liable to be off.another Rah Spoiler wrote:After Ayato tuned the world he was able to go back and live his live normaly as if the Mu atack never happened at all. Which is why he looks the same age as Haruka and Quon is his daughter.

All that I have to say is there are too many similar things in Eva and Rah for it to be a coincidence. And since Eva was around first, the creator of Rah must of been influenced by it, hence the similarities. Also both of these aren't "mech" animes since neither of the main character's "mech" aren't really robots. Neither side can deny that these two are alike in many ways. But in the same respect they have different ways about doing things. Personally I prefer Eva for it's development and deep characters. and I give Rah respect for it's major showing of Aztec culture.

Actualy i can't remember where, but i do remember reading that the dirrector, or original artist was greatly inspired by Eva. so your right there.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:All that I have to say is there are too many similar things in Eva and Rah for it to be a coincidence. The Aztec mythology thing was somthing that totlay flew over my head, where as the obvious references to christianity and Judieasm in Eva were picked up pretty qucikly. This is probably because i've never read or heard any aztec muthology.MAS wrote: Also both of these aren't "mech" animes since neither of the main character's "mech" aren't really robots. I think what he's getting at, like almost every hardcore Eva fan I've talked to, is basically "OMFG YOU CAN'T CALL EVA MECHA!! The EVAs arn't piloted! They LIVE! and are ALIVE. So they arn't Mecha! They's something OTHER than mecha. I just love Eva so much that I feel insulted for it to belong in the mecha genre, even if rightuflly DOES go there!"

That's like saying gundam wing doesn't belong in the gundam genre but Sailor Victory does. =|
