Gravitation Manga= WOW

Post by Moonlight Soldier » Sat Nov 01, 2003 8:49 pm

Has anyone read this??? I picked up volume 2 today...WOW!! <--the only word can't think to describe....

It's so different from the anime! But so much better!!!!!!!! Yuki is much more fun in this version! Though I find Shindou (the picture portrait that is) easily confused with Tatsuha and Hiro...the style just makes the characters look the same to me...not overly so, but sometimes I have to check who's who. And there's soo many minor characters! Geez everyone has so many family members who look the same!!!!! ::is easily confused in currrent state of sleep deprivation*

Note! I have not read volume one yet *sniffle* I'll have to order it ^^
Discuss people ^^ Likes/Dislikes etc.

Likes: Yuki's personality ^^ How they (S&Y) actually have a relationship. Shindou's sister= increadibly amusing, author liner notes etc

Dislikes: Lack of lyrics :( (Do you actually read the lyrics in volume one?? Is there any??

I don't know, but it has a lot of boys and... yea... and... they make people go gay and stuff.

No, I think it's a series about a band. AFAIK, it is also considered to be very light Yaoi, and some people don't enjoy that (while others enjoy it too much).

I was thinking of picking up the anime at some point, since I've seen a couple good AMVs using footage from it. But if the manga's that much better, maybe I'll just skip the anime all together. Of course, I need some cash before I can get either, and come to think of it, the anime hasn't even been released stateside, has it?

Anyway, thanks for the recommendation. It'll give me something to read while I wait for volume 3 of Battle Angel Alita: Last Order to come out.

I'm afraid I'm a bit bias against gravitation... you know, the whole gay thing... not that I have anything against gays, it's just... I don't particularly enjoy reading/watching them. That's all. I know my brother likes it though, and so do alot of others, so I'm sure it's good.

I really liked the anime, I would recommend watching it even if you're going to read the manga. I saw it fansubbed. The only part that drove me nuts was that there were no subbed lyrics for the song yuki wrote! >.< Also the ending was kinda... well, not really an ending. But really it was a great series, similar to Fruits Basket only better. :)

I might still give it a shot. The thing is, I usually make it a point not to get both the anime and manga of a series, since they usually tread a lot of the same ground. No sense in buying the same story twice.

He he people replied but I was asleep sorry.

Ya Gravitation is about a band "Bad Luck" trying to make it...It involves this guy Suichi Shindou, the lead singer of Bad Luck, who finds himself falling in love with this romance novelist (Yuki Eiri) *who critizes his lyrics* and then involves all the pressures of making a cd etc etc...it has a lot of drama especially with the rival band "Ask" getting in the way of things. The characters are all awesome though ^^

And ya, Gravitation the series hasn't been released over here, my friend has it fansubbed and its hilarious and ya it's a light yaoi as Otohiko put it. Though the manga is not as light ^^ and from what I can tell from the second volume, it seems rather different as well.

Gaikotsu, the anime series is only 13 episodes and there's an OVA that has 2 episodes (I heard a rumour that the ova was going to be licensed *crosses fingers* ). Interestingly enough, the manga is apparently 12 volumes long! That's a switch! So I don't think it's going to be the same story. (Plus the soundtrack for the anime is awesome ^^ )

12 volumes! Wow, that's quite a few. I'll give it a shot next time I'm over at B. Dalton. (Figures the only store in the area that sells manga is over 3 miles away, and I don't have a car :x ) I might get the anime someday, but the thing is I already have so much on my "to get" list, it's not even funny! RahXephon, Key the Metal Idol, Slayers: Next, hell, my dvdaficionado.com wishlist is almost longer than the list of stuff I own.

At any rate, you've managed to get me interested in the series. Yaoi doesn't bother me too much, and the plot sounds like it'll be a nice change from the comedic fantasies and rampaging mecha shows which seem predominate on my shelf right now.
