Seattle - Millennium Actress will show at the Varsity (University District) through Thursday. Other cities, check your theater listings. The DVD is scheduled for later this month (October 28 ).

The Millennium Actress Web site with trailer is here.
Reviews can be found here.

Also in Seattle, the live-action Returner movie opened today at the Uptown (Queen Anne Hill). Some pictures by clicking "source" below.
Sean Jordan, Cinefantastique, wrote:It's easy to call Takashi Yamazaki's second film an homage to Hollywood sci-fi films and Hong Kong cinema, but if that's the case, how come he does it so much better? Returner could very well prove to be one of the year's best all-American action movies, with crossover appeal not seen since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon....

Yeah, go see The Returner and Millenium Actress even if you have to knock down your mother down to get to them. Two terrific movies!!

I went downtown to see Returner this afternoon. Not as slick as some Hollywood sci-fi, but still a big thumbs-up from me. Very cool plot twist at the end. Writing in the old woman's character was a nice touch, too.

My only complaint is with the Uptown theater: dim bulbs. Not just the cheapskate management, but the projector bulb itself. The movie will probably look better and brighter on my TV when I get the DVD.
