That "superior" $20 version would be a bootleg. If you're cool with that, go ahead, but those of us who actually believe in supporting the industry and series we claim to love would go for the real release.
IIRC I got the real box set from the distributor's table at Otakon for $80. Not bad compared to the, y'know, $200 you can drop for a longer series. :/
It's worth it, IMO.

I did say eariler that I do also own the American release box set. I have both. I was just giving my opinion that the bootleg had better subs and was closer to the manga in story line. And I do believe in supporting the industry that I do love......therefore I did go out and purchase the badly translated - the "real", "license", "non-bootleg" version. I paid 100 dollars for an anime that I already had and was very happy with JUST TO SUPPORT THE INDUSTRY THAT I DO LOVE. So are we okay with that or am I still a bad person?SarahtheBoring wrote:*hyperventilates*

I wasn't questioning your purchases, just that you encourage people to not buy the real thing and buy the bootleg instead.Kazutaka wrote:I did say eariler that I do also own the American release box set. But, you know, lots of people don't see things the same way I do, and that's fine... just presenting the other side of the story.

SaratheBoring,
I understand your point.
No, I dont encourage any one to buy a bootleg, I just gave my honest opinion on this particular anime. In most cases the bootlegs are shit and not worth the money you pay for them. I only own 2 "bootleg" anime and in both cases I bought the "real" thing after watching them. Maybe I should have made my self clear about this being an exception to the general rule.
I bought this "bootleg" copy before it was avia here, when it was released here, I bought it and in this case I happen to think that my "bootleg" copy is better than the real and yes it was expensive (at least to me on my current budget it was). But I bought it anyway because I love the anime that much. I just happen to prefer to watch my "bootleg" version and leave my "real" version on the shelf with the rest of my anime collection.
