Seen the whole thing- 13 eps. Some really good bits, some really not. To expand:
Geneshaft is set in a far-future scenario where genetically engineering all offspring is the norm. Mankind has almost entirely eliminated the male gender, because of his warlike tendencies, keeping only some for military emergencies. Feminism is at its ultimate end.
Enter a cast of characters with 'skills' from their DNA that surpass that of any normal human. They are put onboard a ship, given a large mecha of unknown origin and sent out on a mission to investigate the Rings- humungous bands of gold that appear to come from an alien source.
Good series at times, bad series at times. Overall, I'd say my feelings were mixed.

Don't bother unless u are really bored. Geneshaft is a mediocre Anime. The plot is a bit under developed and most of the battles are so-so CGI. On the flip side the Aliens are bit intersting [they are Rings] and you will find the most evil laugh you will find.
Hope someone gives you a more detailed explanation about the plot, because i saw it like 7 months ago [fansubbed] and I can't remember the whole story. What I can remember is that it consisted of 13 eps and in the end it kinda left you hanging. It did seemed like it had potential to be good but as I said it was underdeveloped
Hope it Helps

More or less my opinion on things and I back up everything except the point about the ending. I felt that the end wrapped things quite nicely, but it's clearly not the same for everyone..ecoy:. wrote:Don't bother unless u are really bored. Geneshaft is a mediocre Anime. Oh, and the character designs, eye-candy, technical nonsense and intro music are all top-notch, but after one episode, there's nothing really new on any of those fronts.

I was gonna say pretty much the same thing.Savia wrote: ...the character designs, eye-candy, technical nonsense and intro music are all top-notch...
I had Geneshaft for awhile but haven't watched the whole thing. I bought a bootleg jap "fansub" DVD(I didn't know any better) and it has, handsdown, the worse engrish that i've seen, ever. They barely speak in sentences, usually just english words (sometimes spelled wrong) that you have to decode into a reletive sentance. i still wanna watch it though. I'll probably pick up the region 1 DVD's after i get the more top priority purchases.

I only saw a few episodes, and it seemed like it had potential. The only thing that really sticks in my mind, however is the line: "Hey! Save your adrenaline for operating the Shaft!" (the Shaft is the robot, btw
)

Who knows what fires burn in the souls of others, or what burdens weigh upon their hearts?
