Speaking of Inuyasha...

Post by Trepe » Tue Aug 13, 2002 1:04 am

Any ideas on how you think the series will end? I mean, there's a movie and 81+ episodes out there; I think the end is getting nearer. A friend of mine thinks it will end with Inuyasha getting the Shikon no Tama, Naraku destroyed, and Inuyasha dead. Kagome will have to return to her own time and when back will meet a reincarnation of Inuyasha. I can't see that happening, but can't figure out what Takahashi's going to do. hmmmmm

I once saw the semi-complete listing of ALL 260+ eps and release dates but I was such an ass that I forgot to bookmark or save the page... (And FACT is that there are *2 movies)

Anyways I think it's quite credible since some peeps told me it was only 80 episodes long and things have barely started to get even BETTER at episode 81.
200-300 episodes? I don't care... I'll get em' all! :D

BTW, it was pointed out that as Tessaiga can take 100 lives in a single swing, so can Tensegia give back a 100 lives in a single swing. That leaves me to wonder that indeed the series does indeed have a long way to go...

Honestly, I can't wait for Sesshoumaru to pull that off, and he'll probably look GOOD while doing it too! 8)

BTW, as in Scryed expect something like a BATTLE FINALE between Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, since it seems they'll never get the pecking order straight.

Now that I renember... In the episode listings somewhere there I saw some episode that had to do with a title stating Naraku getting a sword or weapon or something. That will probably happen, since Inuyasha pretty much owned him in episode 81 and Sesshoumaru wasn't even trying. Naraku will indeed have to get some new power, weapon, tentacle, or whatever.

Rumiko Takahashi seldom "ends" her titles.

I have been informed that in Japanese storytelling, the story stops when there is no point telling any more...

An idea that frustrates and confounds many westerners...

ANYWAY...

I love that image!!

WOO-HOO!

I see no problem in stopping when you run out of idea's.
infact, there are many many Anime's that we truly wished they had stopped:
DBZ - when does the power of powers = overkill !?
Sailor Moon - hehehe, dorthy - wake-up!

one's that we wish they had continued:
Mahoromatic
Maid s of Hanaukyo

and the idea of stopping when you have no more idea's happen's all the time.
Bonkers
DarkWing Duck
Goof Troop

the question of ending when you run out of idea's can be mis-understood,
but it is not a strainge concept.

Usually it's %99 of all american cartoons that have no ending, nor continuos storyline. =_=

Pirates Of The Dark Waters owned in my early days. The show didn't survive enough for them to get the last 6 treasures and end it.

Swat Kats? I wish it had been anime...

Anyways in general, anime creators and people at the story board usually have a solid PLOT if not the whole series finished allready in scrypt before they ever start working.

Americans just keep pumping random episodes of ANYTHING as long as it's trendy and commerciable, unlike the jappannese that are faithfull to their work. -_-

BTW, Inuyasha so far has a SOLID ROCK storyline and every single episode or side story doesn't go to waste. All events up till now have intertwined somehow into a complex web that is the vast and wonderfull wold of Inuyasha. :D

Trepe - you've pretty much described the basis of Kristine Batey's online IY doujinshi - The Hero In The 21st Century or some such. It's an interesting theory (and the doujinshi is a fun read, even if the art takes a little getting used to), but one that I don't entirely subscribe to, as I've mentioned on several occasions on the inu-yasha yahoogroup.

Like this excerpt I'm pulling out of my archives from the last time the issue was brought up - "I've always thought Houjou's role in the series was to provide a sort of counterpoint to Inuyasha. Kagome consistently made comparisons between the two, lavishing praise on the former, while being secretly in love with the latter. :) She sees the good points in Houjou and picks on all the bad traits that Inuyasha possesses, but ultimately through these incidents, she sees all the good stuff about Inu-chan as well. Houjou's presence may well have played an important role in her final acceptance of the fact that she's in love with a certain dog-eared hanyou.

... not sure if that made much sense.

Houjou and Inuyasha are very interesting metaphors as well - the stable and secure Houjou representing the comparatively stable and secure 21st century, and the rough and rowdy Inuyasha representing the Sengoku Jidai. I think that says something about the choices Kagome has had to make (and will make). It's also rather telling how Kagome's school friends (perhaps representing conformist Japanese society?) are always trying to persuade Kagome to make the "right" choice."

Dark Kamui - where is that image from? Please don't tell me it's from the latest (September) issue of Animedia, because then I'll just have to kill myself since I couldn't get my hands on a copy this month... bloody things are so popular they sold out by the time I got to the local Kinokuniya bookstore.

Note to those unaware - of the three main anime magazines out of Japan, Animedia has the coolest Inuyasha stuff. :)

I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying...

I was talking about storytelling style...

A not very good example would be this.

Think of Star Wars... in the traditional style of Japanese story telling, the story would end when the X-Wings are flying off to Destroy the Death Star...

Of course, with more and more exposure to Western films and culture (as well as the ever growing US audiences for anime titles) movies and series often follow a more Western style.
