GTO dubbed vs. subbed
i was going to watch the GTO series, and i was wondering if it were to be better watched subbed or dubbed. Usually, i favor the subs of most anime (exception to bebop), but i heard that the voices on gto dubbed weren't that bad (according to a friend). can anyone contribute?
me love anime.......yes.......

Subbed. The dub is okay, but Dave Lucas is no Wataru Takagi(?).
But, you have to get them on DVD anyways. There really isn't any reason to choose anymore these days. But I would suggest starting with subs, especially new character as they appear in the series. Then watch the next episode dubbed. It's entirely up to you.

DUBBED. DAVE LUCAS IS THE GOD OF VOICE ACTING AHHHH --; but yeah, you can NOT beat dave lucas(Steve Blum) at voice acting, not even japanese can. The jap one makes onizuka sound like a pansy....which is what most asian mens voices sound like but even if they didnt. Lucas owns, i advise watching pretty much ANYTHING that is from Tokyopop because of Dave Lucas and Wendee Lee.

How dare you imply GTO sounds like a panzy!!! And then saying Asian males in general. I'm an Asian male.
Just kidding. I'm not really mad. Well, maybe slightly miffed.
What I hear is really great is the GTO live action TV series. I still can't find it, but friends who have seen it say it's the better between that and the anime.
Dave Lucas and Wendee Lee are pretty good, as Spike and Faye. Pretty much, to me, they just keep using the same voice for all their roles. So they lose points with me for a lack of variety. Dave Lucas voiced a McDonald's commercial and my friends and I like to call it the McDonalds Cowboy Bebop commercial.[/quote]

I'd have to say subbed in this case (as much as I prefer dubbed for ease of viewing). IN a few episodes of GTO, the dubbed script is actually different to the Japanese script. This is blatantly obvious (WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD!!!) in the episode when they introduce the super-genius blonde chick, who likes to humiliate the teachers. The dubbed version covers a lecture about the solar system in a science class, but the same scene in it's Japanese version is a question relating to an English class!

Again, Lucas can basically do no wrong. My only problem with the dub is that some of the minor characters have really annoying voices, but the main characters are all well done. Of course, I am of the general opinion that dub>sub, but that's just how I see it.
