12 kingdoms (Juuni Kokki)

Post by Madzack » Mon Sep 01, 2003 6:26 am

Anybody looking forward to Juuni Kokki aka 12 Kingdoms? Judging from the previews, it looks like the red-haired girl will kick Miaka & the Fushigi Yuugi crew's asses to (ahem) kingdom come!

I've seen the first ~5 episodes; unfortunately, it doesn't seem to hold up to expectations from what I've seen so far =/ Suffers from being quite slow and a little cliched, too, IMHO.

Personally, I loved it. Seems a cut above the usual girl goes to another world story, if only because it's amrter and better paced than most of those stories. It's stil being made in Japan, and as I understand it, the books are pretty epic, so I'm sure the story is going to go through many changes before it's done.

Artisticaly, the animation is great, design is great and the camera-angles are inventive.

Hate to bring up an old topic, but I had to.
I just rented it (After tirelessly trying to get my hands on the rentel copy), and while it didn't live up to my expectations that the preview gave me, I still enjoyed it. I like how a show clearly made for girls, can be so enjoyable to guys too. Escaflowne is still my fave "girl goes to another world story", but I have only seen the begining of 12 kingdoms, so I can only hope that it develops into another great anime (for me).

Seen it, didn't care for it. Although I must add the dub is not good at all. While I like Dorothy Melendrez, she suffers from bad acting in this one - simply not very distraught or angry as the Japanese actress. And yet I thought she was perfect in Hyper Police.

I saw the first two episodes yesterday. It was pretty good. I like the dark haired girl in there, she's cool.

I saw the first 13 episodes. Now I usually hate this genre of anime (like lodoss, berserk, etc), but I actually didn't mind this one. Now, I don't really have a desire to watch the rest, but I'd be lieing if I said I didn't like it at least a little bit.
