Spoil me for FFU...

Post by OmniStrata » Thu Aug 28, 2003 9:01 pm

I'm curious now about Final Fantasy Unlimited. I heard bad reviews from some friends of mine and just now heard it has a shitty ending.... [the number one reason an anime WILL SUX]

What's this show about those of you who are die hard fans and can give me the "major" details...

and if you didn't figure it out yet, this is a spoiler based thread...

"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

Here's the basic synopsis. I know I'm missing some parts since it's been a while since I've seen it.

Around ten years or so ago, a dark pillar appeared in Japan. Then two summoned beasts (which are the Mist Dragon and Bahamut) came through the pillar. Then the two beast attacked each other and "disappeared" (I forgot what happened). Even though they're gone the pillar remained. Then these two scientists saw what happened and decided to explore this pillar which leads to the Inner World.

Years later two kids name Ai and Yu decided to go to the pillar to find their parents which were the scientists. They later met Lisa, a chocobo, and then Kaze. They also faced dangerous creatures sent by the Count, the main bad guy.

The series was SUPPOSED to be 52 episodes, but it got cut by half due to ratings.

8)

For someone that has never played any of the FF games, I loved it.

Kick ass good guy with a cool bad guy, a wolfgirl, two kids, AND CHOCOBOS!!!

I thought the ending was good but sad.

Sad as emotional sad or sad as pitiful? I thought the ending sucked horribly given Square's standards. We don't even know anything DECENT about Lisa, Kaze, and the demon swordsman.

The demon swordsman and Kaze gave up their life energy into forms of bullets. Also Kaze gave Lisa the Demon Gun in order to summon Bahamut in order to destroy the Count. After that, every good guy reunites (except for the dead ones), and lives happily ever after (they didn't even have the chance to ride the cool-looking airship  ). It was pretty abrupt and disappointing.

Even if the ending isn't all that great at least it has an ending unlike Star Ocean EX. That series just got canceled in the middle of the story to make an anime about Star Ocean: Blue Sphere or whatever...

The wolf girl(cant remember her name. gave up her life energy too. She was my favorite character.
