Did anyone else like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust??

Post by MrMuffinMan69 » Fri Aug 09, 2002 3:05 pm

I just bought Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust a couple days ago and I have already watched it about 6 times. I thought that the the colors were incredibly vivid and the voice acting was excellent. The plot of the anime was the best part of the movie. I thought that the realationship that Meir Link and Charlotte was very touching. The fact that a vampire and a human were in love in world that was thrown into so much turmoil was i think in my opinion was a reflection of how today in the world people are looked down upon if they date someone from a different race. Yet, it was not only the love between Meir and Charlotte that kept me coming back it was also D. I liked D alot because i thought that the anime world could use a few more dark and quiet heros instead of stupid, immature, and sex-driven teens.*cough* Tenchi! Now don't get me wrong I enjoy Tenchi Muyo and all of those other dating/who the hell knows what's going on animes. I think that characters like D are the coolest type because they are so mysterious and dark. Anyway I just thought that this movie was one of the best I have seen since Akira and Princess Mononoke.

This was much better than the Anime it actually had a plot that you could follow.

Yup yup, I went and saw it in theaters as well. I also went out and bought it on DVD the exact day it came out.

It really is a brilliantly executed film. The animation is very fluid and the artwork can sometimes rival paintings from the Renaissance. The story was also pretty interesting and was well paced, with enough cool action sequences and character development to keep my attention.
I thought the voice acting was pretty good, but I didn't like the script during some parts. I dont know, some of the diolauge sounded a little campy or cliche.

I don't think anyone could argue that this movie isn't better than the first VHD OVA.

since people are actually reading this i have always been thinking about making a music video with this movie and the song god called in sick today by AFI. Since i would have no idea what to do and I would probably end up screwing it up BAD *sigh* feel free to use the idea just let me know.

I see it recently over at a friends place. I did not realize at first that it was made in English with Japanese subtitles. So I was cringing the first part of it until someone told me that it was made this way in the beginning. So I settled down and enjoyed the movie. Damn I really wish it was in Japanese though. That was an awesome movie overall.

Bloodlust is a neat and pretty show.
It follows the Ninja Scroll School of Killing Competant Named Characters in Unique Ways. :D

Yup... Bloodlust was great! I recommend Wonka's A Vampire's Story vid. Just so you can see a good VHDBL video. It's the best I've seen.
