Serial Experiments Lain vs. Boogiepop Phantom

Post by angelx03 » Sat Aug 16, 2003 1:48 pm

I've just finished watching Boogiepop Phantom on TechTV, and I was still confused as I was when I watched Lain. Nonetheless, I prefered Boogiepop since the animation didn't use too many abtractions. Which do you prefer?

Even though I never finished either series I'd have to say Lain is better.

Lain = Boring as fuck, slow, and not so great animation.

Boogiepop = slower than a fucking slug, pointless, crude animation, horrible progression......it just sucks. I could NOT get passed the third ep. It was just too painful to watch. Trying to stay awak throught hat is like trying to stay awake after taking some fuckin' sleepin' pills

I attempted to watch both of them AT MIDNIGHT. That screwed my brain for the next day.

I thought cube 2 was a disaster with predictable plot. Or was it cube 1?

I'd definitely say Lain. BP was just trying too hard to be weird and deep. :?

Boogiepop is the best 8) 8) 8)

Lain had absolutely no plot, or is that point.... Boogiepop has one, you just need to figure it out.

Hell, that was easy. A single event (the pillar of light) and everybody's reaction/interaction after that event unfolds as told through different perspectives/episodes. Plus the soundtrack and sound design has no equal.

Check this website out if you are still having problems:The Illusion of Memory
or just read the TechTV AnimeUnleashed forums. I've been posting there all summer.
