question abt eva
When did all you eva fans out there start catching the underlying message abt Evangelion? Episodes ten and before would be early, ten to thirteen would be in the middle, after that would be towards teh end.
I asked cuz I'm in fifteen and I only caught remote bits and pieces abt their ideas on religion and what not. Am I slow and not registering what its trying to show?
Also, is it bad that I saw End of Evangelion before completing the anime? Its a pretty graphic movie, and it got me bugging out yesterday and tday.

Well... I knew there was a lot to this show right from Episode 1.
I mean... you had an alien attacking that was called an angle and it was blasting the city with "energy crosses" and the story telling had elements that made it clear that there was going to be a lot more to the show than we were seeing.
I was less interested in the angels than I was in the relationships with the characters... but right from the beginning I saw that this show was going to be something to remember...
I had no idea how complex it would get and how deep the storyline was going to delve
Now... as for the movie "End of Evangelion"
I would have said that you should see the whole 26 eps of the TV series before you see the movie. Part of me wishes the movie had never been made, because I don't think there is any need for it... and the movie is just drenched in the anger of its own creation... as if it knows it should never have been made.
However... as with any series that you love, you're always happy to see new material.
I don't think the movie "replaces" the end of the TV series so much as that it is a nice companion to the end... but the end of the TV series is the end of the show and it is the true message... and the more straight forward one.
The movie gives some extra details... but realy only serve to distract from the real final message of the show.
Since you saw the movie... take a breather...
get it out of your system...
and then watch the rest of the TV show (doing your best to noth think about the movie)
Once your done with the show, go back and see the movie... you'll have more insight of what's going on.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

Re: question abt eva
to be certain, wat underlined message are u talking about?omniinuyasha85 wrote:When did all you eva fans out there start catching the underlying message abt Evangelion? Episodes ten and before would be early, ten to thirteen would be in the middle, after that would be towards teh end.
if ur talking about the religion stuff, i knew they were there from the beginning (angels/crosses) but i didn't understand where the other religious influences were (or even that they (kabalism) were there) until i came to forums and people talked about them, since i only recognized the christian stuff in there (me being christian by tradition, not choice (i'm fighting this) i didn't think too much about them, i focused a lot more on the realism of the characters, the religious stuff just kept poking at my head the whole time though.
i noticed the underlined message the clearest at the very end of the series, which would make sense because that's where it ended and where the series would not need to exist anymore

Asuka was reincarnated, so all's good.
At least, if Shinji can control his urge to strangle her all the time...
With that last line I'd like to quote an omake from the "The one I choose is..." fanfic.
[/i]"Tell me what I have left if I can't pilot EVA, tell me why people
should care about me..."
The way Asuka had spoken... even if she felt utterly worthless
without EVA, I knew that some part of her was pleading for an answer to
that question. I was sure of it.
"There's more to life then EVA! You... you... you're beautiful.
You're bright! I mean, you graduated from college... And you can be
really nice when you want to!"
"Is that all? Is that all there is to Sohryu Asuka Langley?"
I wished that I could have said more, but my brain just didn't seem
willing to work properly.
"It's... it's more then I can say about myself..."
"You don't need more! You're Shinji the Hero!"
"Who cares if I can pilot EVA?!"
"I do!"
"Well, I don't! I don't care! I don't care if you can't pilot those
goddamn things again! I love you for who you are, not because you're a
pilot!!!"
Asuka's eyes opened wide. Maybe it was because she was surprised. Or
maybe it was because I was strangling her. Isn't that what you do to
people you love? (especially if they are the only other person in the
world alive)"[/i]

ok i agree it looks like they are alive. but wouldnt they just die of starvation or something again? I kinda also agree that she now being stuck with him forever, that she will come around and love him. since she said if he was the last man on earth he might have a chance with her. talk a bout getting what ya wished for.
