Narutaru - totally wacked...
Has anybody been watching the "Narutaru" fansubs? This is probably the most wacked "kids show" I've seen in, well...ever.
People dying, schoolgirl wrist cutting, dramatic filming, a slow pacing, black market guns (MAC-11s and FN P-90s), sadistic tendencies, hints of murder, genocide and apocalypse, parent/child relationship issues, creepy imagery, and an overall dark tone - and that's just been the first four episodes.
If you want what could potentially be Evangelion or Lain level messed up, I recommend checking it out. There's also a manga (distributed in English by Dark Horse Comics).

Thank god. I've been pushing this manga at every available oppurtunity, in about three different threads, and up til now noone else knew about it. I love this series, a lot.
kthulu, do you know how fast they're progressing through the plot in relation to the manga? Volume 4 ends as Shiina is racing to reach Akira, who has been kidnapped by the cross-shaped shadow dragon.

Agreed. After that kind of time, people start getting impaled. The contrast with the kiddy style is what makes it so good.

Yet true.
After all, from what I hear, the series only gets ever darker from there.
...
And angels with V61 Vulcans and battleship cannons are pretty neat ^^
