Here's a link to a discussion of a live action musical version of Inu Yasha. Looks like they've been thinking of doing live action animes for longer than we think.

Just because it works when it's animated doesn't mean it'll work when it's live action. Although a stage show probably wouldn't be as bad as something else.

I mean look how much they changed X-men to put it as live action... can you imagine a live action x-men with wolverine wearing yellow and black spandex?
