2nd series of Eva...

Post by )v(ajin Koji » Thu Jul 24, 2003 1:43 pm

...your thoughts on how one should be, if you think there should ever be one, if so which ending should be followed and (since any thing can happen after the T.V version) what would happen...would you base a 2nd series on the famed Evangelion:R fanfic? which was praised by GAINAX themselves?

Or do you think that Eva has been bled dry by the movies or that the whole thing was a total disaster?
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

I would leave the issue be and come up with some fresh, new ideas. @nd season or even series spinoff would be beating a dead horse.

There should be no continuation. There is no reason. It serves its purpose and it's meaning is quite clear and driven-in. There's no point to continuing a series where the main character has already realized his self-worth and has no inner-conflict. If you want to go along the area of post-third impact, that too is pointless. We can already infer that most humans will find their answers within the LCL/Instrumentality and come out and live their lives accordingly. To continue would be a bit boring.

As for the ending, you're wrong in separating the TV and Movie...they're identical other than the Movie going back to reality. Both still end with Shinji coming to grips with his "answers."

I don't see how a second series could be possible. The first ended with no room for a second. Unless it's one of those spinoffs with the same plot and different characters. But even that would be near impossible.

Since Third Impact already occured, and the evolutionary status quo of the Earth has shifted in a different direction, there's no way a new series of Eva can be created, unless you're a jackass and decide to follow in the footsteps of T3.

If there were a new series of Eva that picked up right after Third Impact, it will most likely be Shinji, Asuka, and their soccer ball Wilson trying to keep what little sanity they have left being stuck on Earth all alone. You know it would end up being nothing but hentai. Shinji and Asuka are stuck all alone on the Earth, only the clothes on their backs (in the case of Asuka, only her plug suit), and no pinball machines for hundreds of miles! What else are they going to do?

yup, there could literally be NO way to make a second season/new series Eva sense its all done already and there'd be nothing possible to do. --; Less they made a really boring show of watching LCL and floating Rei parts....and people turning from LCL back into people ...and Asuka beating shinji ....and yeah pretty much it for 26 episodes --;;

Well they're not all alone. Yui explicitely says that all humans have the ability to come back (just as Shinji chose through instrumentality...found his self-worth, rejected the false reality).

So, yeah you could have a movie about the new world and people in it, but that's really stupid and pointless. The point of the show (the journey of Shinji) has already been covered and it would be pointless to continue. I know Anno (the creator) would never want to since the show is about people (not the story) and either way...both the story and character/meaning parts have concluded.

Yeah, there was also a rumored precursor to Evangelion. But that never yielded any positive results.

It wasn't, so don't worry about it.
