manga vs anime series

Post by Bebop0083 » Tue Jul 15, 2003 11:26 am

what do you like better manga or the seires??

manga that i liked better then the show are:

Love Hina so much screwed up then the series
Dragon Ball Z not too much talking. it gets right down to the point. it doesnt take several eps to power up. maybe one or 2 pages or less then that.
Akira the manga is well drawn out and the story is better then the movie.

series that i like better the manga

Cowboy Bebop

i have yet to read more manga. tell me your thoughts.

Oooooo, this is something that has always bothered me. I LOVE the Violinist of Hameln manga and movie but I LOATHE the anime series. They turned my Hamel into a whiney silent type! ARG! They screwed with all the characters and made them annoying! I like Hamel much better when he's fighting with Raiel and Trom and dressing Flute up as beer cans and monkeys and the bottoms of ostriches. I like him better when he abuses his Marrionette attack and makes people dance for no reason except to amuse himself.

Oh, and you're right about the Akira manga. It's sooooo good. Makes the movie look kinda crappy. But I still like the movie.

Britt: The worst! I was aiming at the horse.

Well it depends. When it comes to Angel Sanctuary I like the manga a lot more because the anime only covers about 3 volumes of the 20 volume manga. However, when it comes to FLCL, I like the anime a lot better because FLCL just isn't the same without it's soundtrack. So it depends on the circumstances.

well I would have to say I'm even on manga and the anime.
the manga has a beter story and it is not spred out as much, and most manga never get animated anny way.(some inportant stuff is beter explaned in the manga and is left out of the anime.)
but anime lets you see the things you can only dream seeing in manga. one thing is color, and the way some moves are done.

the only manga right now i wish was animated is sandland, but it's new I'll give it a wile. even thoug it may only be 10 episodes long or mabe just a movie.
Only time I say no is if someone asks if I've had enough.

Depends on which came first and is done directly by the creator. For shows like DBZ, Rurouni Kenshin, Love Hina and so on..I prefer the manga since that is the one dirctly worked on by the creator.

Stuff like Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop Manga were done *after* the TV series and thus "less original" to me.

Make sense?

Amen! I'm no DBZ fanboy, but when I read the manga when I was 5 - 7 y/o or so, I was not as bored with it as I was the TV series (which was on later in the day..i.e. same time as the manga coming out).

The manga was so much quicker...no powering up...no long-winded speeches, etc. It still had all the story elements and fights, but just no extraneous partsl ike 10 episodes on Namek that is supposed to be 5 minutes until the planet blows up.

It really depends. It usually depends on how well the manga is converted into the series. Whenever its an almost perfect conversion ( example ranma) then I like the anime better. But for the most part, I like the stories of the manga better, examples: El Hazard ( original storyline which had elements that both the tv series and oav lacked), DNA^2 ( this manga is soooo much better than the series; not only are the fights better but its played out better). So like I said it really depends, but for the most part I enjoy manga better.

Your sigs too big man. It must be no more than 40 pix tall by 600 wide.... I got a couple of complaints and a sig removal because I forgot the size.
