I just finish Ai Yori Aoshi last week. Tons of gratuitous fanservice but still very touching all the same.

Lets see:

1. Fushigi Yugi
2. Onegai Teacher
3. Hand Maid May (more fanservice and comedy based but it has romatic themes)
4. Love Hina
5. El Hazard (OAV and Tv series The Wanderers both have romatic themes)

there are many, many more . . . but I am getting tired.

Princess Mononoke had the startings of a love story, the friends circle sort of thing. i'm pretty sure it'll become more.

Armitage III has a love story, ends up with *gasps* some good ol' fashion anime sex (you'll be surprised at just how long that sequence was).

Vampire Hunter D has a love story and a sad one too.

Not to take this off topic or anything but I hate Otaru. I never got why he deserved the love of Lime, Cherry, and Bloodberry. He definitly wasn't incredibly nice to them, nor did he act in any way like a person they could really love. Actually I thought Otaru was really a jerk to them most the time. To me he just lacked those main character qualities that other main male characters had. Of course this is all based on the fact that I've only seen Saber Marionette J. Maybe he shows more love or anything for that matter towards them in other series.

Now back on topic:

Fruits Basket is based on the number 1 romance manga in japan, so its pretty romantic.

SaiKano (Saishu Heiki Kanojo) will make you cry. It is the sweetest love story.
Someone really fucking hates me. If you ever decide to show your face, please, pay me a visit. I’d like to introduce you to several obscene gestures.

If you liked "Mars" and "Marmalade Boy" i think "Kodomo no Omocha" or "Kodocha" in america.... would be good. IT's also made by Tokyopop and it's got the whole humor thing mixed in with romance.

I highly recommend Voices from a Distant Star, followed by Whispers of the Heart.
