Is this anime any good? [Voice of a Distant Star]

Post by Eddard_179 » Thu Jun 12, 2003 10:51 am

I was at the store and found a movie called "voice of a distant star" or something like that it is a mecha movie I would like to know if it is any good.

'Voices of a Distant Star', or 'Hoshi no Koe', to give it it's original Japanese title, is a standalone short movie created by one man on a home computer (!). Despite this, it is a high-quality animation with a fairly interesting plot. I enjoyed this short but beware that it is short- approximately 30 to 35 minutes. Don't expect it to be a full-length movie.

It's a romance short movie (25 min) (with some mechs fights)
I personally LOVE this anime.

Some people might hesitate to spend $20-$30 for a 30-minute show, but I thought it was worth it. One of the best anime I've seen in a long time.

The creator's other short film and Grand Prix winner - "She and Her Cat" - is included. It's worth seeing, too.

And there's an extended interview (Q&A) that might be of interest to budding animation artists.

I also recommend it. It's a bit odd (there's a word I'm grasping for to describe its extra, i.e. "out of" reality, feel, but it escapes me), don't look for the technology or "war" plot anything to actually mean anything. It's just a love story driven by some great visuals.

This sounds very interesting. Dd you get it in a local place, or a chain sore? If chain, which? Hopefully I have one here.

But how about some of those people who don't have access to a credit card?
And you only have access to current DVD's or what they have in stock.
I couldn't find a few DVD's I've been looking for and couldn't even find any "Hentai" DVD's....

Oh well....
