Urban Vision goes after Fansubbing Group

My take on it:

While I doubt they will, my hope is that UV goes full down on AJ. Being the fansubbing ethicist that I am, I have never been a fan of AJ, and their reactionary statements to UV...as briefly touched upon in the above article do not stray far from the truth. This should tell you the quality of the people associated with that fansubbing group.

Of course, AJ, continues to sub and distribute materials licensed by ADV, Pioneer, and a couple other NA distrobution companies, so I will be curious if this first move by UV to get the ball rolling, will make these other companies take steps as well. Personally I hope so; I'm tired of the fansubbing ethic being so sorely abused and ignored these days.

Set views = mixed.

On the one hand, I agree that it's unfair to the companies trying to bring anime to the American markets for people to distribute the shows and movies that they license on the internet.

On the other hand, I personally like to download a couple episodes of a series to sample it before I buy it on faith alone (frequntly I can't find more than a couple movies and maybe OVAs in rental stores), although I never download the whole thing.

I do think, though, that those AJ people are not doing a very good job of actually presenting a viable argument. In fact, their letter is very jackass-ish. And why do people always attack companies for wanting to make money? Nothing is wrong with wanting to make a profit. Making an overcharged profit is wrong, but not an honst one.

Good. AJ has long been a thorn in the side of good fansubbers everywhere. Their quality is ass, they do a bad job, they distribute liscensed materials, and their staffers are all assholes. Fuck 'em.

I was wondering when this forum would get wind of this. The other forum I go to has been trashing AJ for almost a week now.
Personally I think they suck.

Yeah I saw this a few days ago. What's really bad is that in their reply email..they acted like they fucking owned the rights to the series.
